I called one dealership and the guy quoted me $22.50. When I had a free oil change done at another they put 18.50 on the receipt. I'm not sure what to make of all the different pricing.

I bought two at Kragen when they had a 2 for $7 Fram filter special, which works out to $3.50 a piece. I also bought Mobil 1 0w-40 oil for $4.49 at pepboys and got a free mobil 1 filter with a coupon for my wife's G35 free. Keep your eyes open for specials from those two establishments.

Just bought mine from Kragen yesterday for $10.29. Wal-mart has the 0-40 mobile 1 for $5.16 per qt.

Just had the oil changed this morning at the dealer. $9.25 for the filter. The same charge was on the invoice for my first oil change. I brought my own oil. They charged $21.00 including the filter for the service.

It seems to me that the price for a "factory oil filter", from a D/C dealer fluctuates more than the price of gasoline. I've heard so many different prices thrown out during the last couple of months, that I'm beginning to think it depends on what kind of "mood" the parts guy is in when you ask for one.
I'm sure you can save lots of money if you buy an aftermarket filter, but from my own personal experience, I prefer to use only factory filters. Biggest reason, is if warranty problems should appear, that's one less excuse they have to say it's my fault.
To answer your original question, it seems like the prices range between $18 and $22.

Question Re: oil filter cost?

Does K&N or Mobil 1 make a filter for our car?

Remember the stock MB filters just a paper filter and is designed to last the long intervals between oil changes. Aftermarket versions may not be as good or hold up as well.

Oops! Meant to say the MB version is NOT just a paper filter...
