Why does the car get called a "chics car"
Over on www.contour.org my Crossfire gets ragged on by some of the fellow enthusiasts that I still associate with. I hear everything from "hairdressers car" to "chics ride" to "creampuff". So I ask you guys this, is it because the car is small, the styling or what? IMO the car is very solid, gets alot of looks, sounds good now that I've installed the muffler and out performs my previous car (2000 Contour SVT) in every category. Don't get me started about fit and finish either, that just wouldn't be fair to the CSVT. What do you guys think?
Their full of Sh*T that's why. Why do you care? I'll tell you what we call this car in Spanish.......Baja Pantie!!! The panties dropper!
P.S.
LOL just noticed you were getting and taking stuff from CONTOUR owners! :^O

the Miata gets the same rap, but anyone who's owned one or driven it the right way knows better. look at all the articles on the new '06... who do you think is writing those?
did you know that 65% of Mustang owners are female? and i believe the 6-cylinders out-number GTs by 2:1, IIRC.

I live in Delaware, and have only seen like 2 other crossfires other than mine. Both were of chicks. I think its because alot of guys like the car with more power like the 350Z or mustang. They want a racing car. Obviously the Crossfire is not the most powerful so i guess girl might be attracted to it. I like the crossfire over the z, and alot of guys say they love my car.
ha ha ha. i too was a fellow CEG'r and i don't know why they are bashing you. my guess is a lot of the 'good' people have abandoned there cars for other things and now it is full of young kids who can buy an svt contour for $5000.
IMO the crossfire is not a girls car, in fact, i have never seen a girl driving one. tell those CEG's that you'll be waiving by them as their cars are in the shop getting fixed. the xfire is faster, handles better, and is more reliable than the SVT.

Anytime I have seen someone driving a Crossfire it has been a male. I do not consider this car a chic car at all...maybe what they mean is it attracts chics...that might be true. In my book it is one sharp sports car and gives me everything I want in this type of car.
Hummm... I have seen 3 women driving Crossfires here in CT. In fact, a friend of ours bought one and traded in here Mini-Cooper for a 2004 Crossfire coupe. My wife loves to drive our Crossfire and feels the 6-speed is one of the easiest that she has ever driven.
I have always felt that the SL series of Mercedes was a chick's car. In these parts, if you see an SL on the road, chances are, a good looking woman is at the wheel. Also the new Mustang (non GT) is attracting its fair share of women drivers...

Personally, I can see how the Crossfire is a girl's car. It is not as "hardcore" as some other cars, making it more of a gentle machine. This idea of gentleness can be seen in the lack of raw horsepower, a somewhat soft suspension, brakes that don't immediately "grab" the car at speed, a steering wheel that doesn't communicate well, and exterior colors that don't look so radical. The bottom line is that people have the assumption that "gentle" objects are suited more towards women, while aggressive beasts or more suitable towards men.
This is about what I expected to hear and its how I feel as well. Refinement shouldn't be considered "soft", rather a good thing so you can enjoy your car w/o too much problems. In the defense of my old car though, I had some mods done to the car and it too was good to me and I really liked it, although when I sold the car the 3rd gear syncros were starting to go bad, but that was covered under Fords ESP, so its not like I didn't tell the guy and he ended up paying $50.00 to have the trans overhauled. All in all, I do enjoy the Crossfire over the CSVT, but its hard to make the Crossfire standout in the crowd as far as mods, but that's alright for now.
"radical" is suited towards unrefined people men or women who think stickers and crap make a car look good and wouldn't know what really looks good if it bit them on the *****.

Red,
Not sure if your mixing up your MB body styles but there's both the SLK and the SL series and can never say I heard the SL being called a "female" car. Coming from a person that would not be caught dead in a new bug or mini cooper, you could give me a SL55 or SL65 in pink for all I care; I would drive it all day long.

I would base it on the fact the car has more show than go. It is definitely not a performance oriented car. It is supposed to be a looker, and accomplishes it quite nicely.
Like a peacock, pretty but useless.
Girls always say the crossfire is so cute. With my corvette they said it was hot. Take it for what it is worth.

Girls from my sister's school, age around 12 and below, said my xfire cute. Boys from same age range say "jambu!" its a local language meaning sexy.
Those slightly older called the owner cute ... sexy.
Whatever so, listen to the wise guy talking "Take it for what it is worth".
It sure worth lots.
and am a proud owner.

You should have reminded the board that the members drive CONTOURS! That is a FORD econo-box, a slow one at that (even the SVT). C'mon contour owners talking smack, that only fly's on a Honda board. I'm still laughing at how ignorant some people are. This takes me back to the days when I first got my SRT-4. Everybody said "its just a neon." Then I took it to the track and ran mid-13s with less than $500 under the hood (14 flat stock). After that nobody talked.
I'm a junior in college and have girls from ages 18-25 all tell me the car is sexy. That's all I need. Even the guys at school give props, who wouldn't.
All Ford owners are the same, if it doesn't have a blue oval on the grill then its a girl's car.

i received the "cute" comment from a girl i was showing properties to yesterday.
I tell people my Crossfire is a dude magnet which is NOT a desirable thing. I have guys constantly asking me "what's it got under the hood?", "what'll she do?", "what've you had 'er up to?", etc., etc. but women don't give it a second look (at least not so overtly).
I see one other Crossfire in my area every few months and it's driven by an elderly African American woman who can barely see over the steering wheel. And she looks way cool.
Who cares what people think? Drive it. Enjoy it.
