Has anyone done this? Does it work? I've been told sending the bad module away to be repaired isn't reliable.

There are other services out there that are similar. I myself haven't used any of them. Do your research and maybe someone here can give you better info

Thanks. I think I have located a used module from a 07 Crossfire on Facebook parts page. Verifying now it's the right one & no airbags have blown.

Update: The fellow at the Facebook parts page wants a deposit before removing &/or providing even a pic of the module he says he has. He only provided a generic summer pic of a perfect Crossfire roadster sitting in somebody's driveway. Is this the custom when buying parts over the internet?

If your Spidey Sense starts to tingle, then it’s a good idea to take a pass. There are a lot of other donor cars out there. I’ve had success on eBay with parts. If the item I needed wasn’t listed, I would reach out to the seller to inquire if they had it. I’m successful more often than not when doing this. Plus the sellers usually have a longer history of transactions and ratings. When searching this way, the items you’re after tend to be less expensive because they are not high turn and in high demand so most of these parts are seen as unsellable or unusable by the seller
I purchased an OBD port this way just 2 months ago it cost me $8.00

Hope your search is successful

Scammer.

Stay away. I WISH we could rid the world of that guy.

YOu can also talk to Josh Chase at the MSS (Mercedes Swap Shop), he's tremendously knowledgeable about the car's various electronic systems.
He may or may not have the answer, but if anyone might, it would be Josh. He does module programming and repairs (on some modules, not sure about the airbag module).
