Headlights
Hey has anyone had a problem with their headlight having a sort of haze on them? It's almost like they are fogging up but it only goes halfway done the headlight. Just curious if anyone else has had that problem and if they found a way to fix it?
I saw this thread being discuss here:

Don't know if it'd help.

I told the dealership about the TSB but they didn't seem to be listening to me so they ordered the new headlights. I'll take a new pair of headlights and when it happens again, maybe they will listen to me.
Ok, so I just got the XFire back from the dealership with the headlights and it looks awesome and I can see at night! I hope this fixed the problem. I will let you guys know if the haze comes back.
Bought a new 04' this week at great price. Too bad sales dropped after initially selling at a premium but good for me. All 5 04's and 2 05's at this dealer had headlight covers with a white haze to various degrees, no condensation inside, all outside. Caused by combination of rain and sun, fix was a fine polishing wax, crystal clear now. If you wipe a wetted paper towel across the surface and it temporarily disappears, this is the fix.

It is not clear to me why a simple fix for a simple problem is such a issue for some (?).
My headlight covers are still clear at nearly two months post "polishing" as I described earlier. There has still been no condensation or moisture apparent within the headlight assembly.
Yes, there are TSBs... Yes, the dealer may replace the headlight assemblies... Yes, one can take their car in for a day or two (my local dealer requires at least two visits to fix anything on a TSB - a "diagnostic" visit to confirm that there is a problem and order parts, then a return visit to "fix" the issue - too much time for a minor thing!!!)... BUT, If internal moisture is NOT the problem, why run the risk of making things worse with an unnecessary trip to a dealer who may or may not do a good job for you? One thing that I've learned in 30 years of eye surgery is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
It appears that at least two other Crossfire owners have been successful in fixing their "haze" issue just as I did.

I agree with rdotson in that, solving a parts issue such as exterior fogging of these plastic covers in factory production usually turns out better than field repairs. My old '89 944s2, like many Porsches and Audis of that era had factory-authorized dealer fixes for gasket leaks in tail light assemblies but few permanently fixed the problem in the field. Replacing the entire headlight assemblies is the logical solution for a new car warrantee repair but with the incidence of internal water issues. I'm more comfortable with an external fix.
Mine are doing this too as well as the little piece inside the foglight has fallen off. I have a long list of things that need to be done when I take it in to the dealer. Just need to find a good mechanic in my area. The place I used to work @ won't even look at it because they're so busy and don't even have a qualified mech. What a bunch of B.S.
