Valentine One, don't bother with any others.

It's good to know where they (cops) are 'cause if they're right behind you, they will try to challenge you just to entrap you to commit a quick acceleration if you don't know they're right behind you. And they can always slap you some violations like reckless driving or racing acceleration!

Cops are BAD when it comes to end of the month pressure.

Best time to rob a bank is at the end of the month 'cause cops are hanging out on the streets more (making revenues) where no criminals are present.

Wow Ordered a Valentine 1 last night around 8 PM. It arrived today before noon. Talk about fast service. Now I just hope it works as great as the service did. I've never used a detector before but with my Crossfire I feel like I have a sign on the side saying "Ticket Me Please - I Go Fast Even Standing Still".

ESCORT Passport 8500 X50 mounted in the center of the rear shelf. Detects front and rear. Or the Valentine One. I just need fair warning. They're everywhere...

The new Bell STi Driver outperforms the Valentine 1.

I am the type of person that closes empty barn doors, if you catch my drift. I bought the Escort Solo 2 cordless. I bought it the morning after my first speeding ticket in over 24 years. This is the best cordless model on the market, and better than many corded units. As to how it compares to the Valentine 1, no clue. I've been very satisfied with it. I never considered mounting it in the rear shelf..that sounds like a great place. The profile is very nice, thought it is longer than many other units, it is very thin, and operates on 2 AAs. Battery life seems to be super. The included batteries died in a few weeks. I've had the replacement set in for 2 1/2 months and still showing 4 bars.

At least I haven't had another ticket...yet.

I have the Escort Solo too!

If V1 is only cordless, I might have bought it.

For my Escort Solo, ONE beep means step on the brake!

Wow and here I thought it was only in my town that they were hiding behind bushes and billboards at the end of the month.

Agreed on the entrapment thing ... one day I was next to a Scion that was tweaked ... paint, wheels, exhaust ... they'd be on my side ... speed up ... slow down ... speed up ... slow down etc ... I just kept tooling along minding my own business ... I've taking the XF on the road ... opened it up, I know what it will do, I don't need to impress anyone ... just me.

I will look into the Escort and the Valentine ... I like the idea of putting it on the ledge behind the seat and be able to detect front and back ...

Thanks for the info.

Guys,
If you're going to mount your detector on the ledge make sure you use some kind of spacer to boost it up a bit. A radar detector needs to be able to "see" out the windows to be effective and that ledge is not high enough. If your detector doesn't have a clear view out the front and rear of the car you will significantly reduce the range at which you will get a warning!

I've been reading a lot of posts from some of the participants of the latest Gumball 3000 and this year’s co-winner, Torquenstein, used a combination of the Valentine 1 and the Blinder M40 laser jammer. If the police in your area use laser speed detection, you may want to research laser jammers. I've been reading some remarkable things about their performance. Of course, here in Virginia, radar detectors of any kind are illegal, but last I heard they don't confiscate them anymore.

Well what can say? I use this board because I am looking for the expert opinion of owners. But...when it comes to electronic devices I turn to other sources...such as RadarBusters.com. Their comments about Valentine ... However, Radar Roy and other reviewers have all agreed, that the filtering on the Valentine 1 is inferior. So much so that in the November 2004 issue of Autoweek magazine's review, they called the Valentine 1 the "Chicken Little of radar detectors".

Do you believe everything you read in a magazine or some web site set up to make a profit? Usually, whoever gives them a perk, gets the best review. I believe forums to be much more honest than any other sourse. Most subscribers to forums aren't in it for the money, and are eager to pass on their true experiences just to help other members. All I can say is, buy what you can afford. I bought the V1 and have avoided a ticket every time, for 4 years. I can make my decisions very quick because it is very easy to read direction of radar, signal strength, type of radar, number of radar signals, and latest radar signal.

...I say if you can't afford a Valentine, wait and save up. Don't buy another detector, I swear by the Valentine.
