Wow, I'll bet that thing weighs as much as the whole rest of the car! It would be a lot of fun though. Kinda like a 4-wheeled version of the Boss Hoss:

502 ci, 502 Hp, 567 lb/ft of torque.

~ would be a BLAST once its finally completed.

come on... you can do it !!!

LOL... The torque in that engine would crack the little Crossfire in half. Hell, we used to have problems with the 74 Porsche 914 / 6. The frame cracked right behind the seats from the increased torque... Could you imagine this thing ?

On a serious note, I had some interesting and heated discussions yesterday with DC service. It seems they have really screwed-up the parts catalogue and have the wrong #'s on some parts. After waiting 10 days for all the SRT6 brake components, it seems they mis-labeled the brake anchors and sent the ones from the limited... They are listed wrong in the system... So, my car sits barren of front brakes until they try to figure out which is the correct part #.

The box has a label with MB part # of A0034200515 and a different Chrysler label with part # 1-05143221AA.

I called the local MB dealer and asked what the description of part #A0034200515, they said a SLK320 Brake Anchor. Not SLK32... I called DC Service Center and asked them what was the part description of #1-05143221AA and they said an SRT6 Brake Anchor.

I wonder how many other parts are not correct between the two cars...

Here is the email I got back from "Karmann", I sent them an email asking if a swap out of the V6 for the MB V8 would be possible without major engine compartment work, this is their reply:

Dear Customer,

Unfortunately we have no car tuning experience!
Karmann produce only series cars!

But you can also ask by DaimlerChrysler Germany.
The engine compartment from the Crossfire is the same as the Mercedes SLK!

Hopefully my answer helps you!

Questions or comments please let me know.

A V8 is possible. Maybe not the cheapest fun, but feasible!
Startech is doing such mods. This is an extract from their page:

6.1 liters displacement from eight cylinders, 426 hp / 313 kW maximum power output, a peak torque of 621 Nm, 0 - 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h: STARTECH offers an American muscle car made in Germany in the form of the STARTECH Coupe V8 6.1.

The engine bay of the new coupe turned out to be large enough to accommodate the STARTECH V8 6.1 increased-displacement engine, albeit after some modifications. Power is transferred to the rear axle via an electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission and a custom-developed locking differential.

The STARTECH V8 6.1 engine delivers 426 hp / 313 kW at 5,400 rpm and produces a gigantic peak torque of 621 Nm at 4,100 rpm. Thus equipped the two-seater coupe turns into a purebred sports car with extreme performance potential: The STARTECH Coupe V8 6.1 takes just 4.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 - 100 km/h. Top speed is 300 km/h.

So, HDDP, go for it and beat them!

WOW!.... Can you imagine pulling into your favorite neighborhood 5 Star Chrysler dealer with this, and asking them if your car is still under warranty?
Then watch the service manager have a "nervous break down" right before your eyes.

The Chrysler dealer would probably take a week to realize it wasn't the OEM engine... LOL... Sorry, I'm on a bit of a pisser with them right now... They're making me miss a race on Saturday because they can't get their parts catalogue right...

Lol that's funny. I don't take my dealership to be to knowledgeable either. I bought my Crossfire from one guy, and came back a week later to pick up the license plates, and he didn't even know who I was. Are all Chrysler dealerships just "out of it"?

I saw that on a TV show, it actually is a Viper V10 engine... I'm not sure if they actually got it to run except for a short drag for the camera... That's whacky... Heck, might as well put a jet engine under your as*...

Andrew was just kidding about dropping the V10 in the Crossfire... It would be a tech nightmare and make for a really unsafe vehicle...

Kinda funny concept though... I think I can work out something more feasible for the Crossfire for SCCA GT class...

I've sold Chryslers for over 2 years now and there is really no excuse for forgetting someone who buys a car from you not to mention a "Crossfire". I would never forget someone who buys a very rare car. I've had bad days when I'm just out of it totally, this job is very stressful, and we do talk to and see alot of people but I NEVER forget a face.

Imagine if you came back in the next week and he moved on to something else or another dealership. It happens, I just had to do something similar and it sucks. Its not the salespersons fault, maybe he wasn't making enough money there and couldn't afford to work the long hours with such a small return. Maybe the dealership he worked for SUCKED and did some shady crap he didn't like, or they messed with his paycheck or pay plan constantly trust me it happens. All of those things and the car business SUCKS overall right now for everyone. I'm broke, I"m making a lot less a month than I did last year and my standard of living was high back then so you can imagine how it sucks for me right now. People jump around a lot when times are tough and they are now.
Don't hate the Player "salesperson" hate the game "car biz".

I hate it .

sorry for venting, i'm way off topic here i think. hehe

Perhaps you can help me out. I've had this ongoing project of upgrading the limited brakes to the SRT6 brakes. It seems DC has mis-labeled the part #'s between the two cars and can't figure out the part # for the mounting bracket for the SRT6 front caliper. And, the SRT6 parts catalog shows the diagram of the limited.

I've spoken with Star Parts and they say I must be wrong !!! I'm sitting here with the alleged SRT6 caliper adapter and it is identical to my limited, which has bolt holes that are much narrower than the SRT6 caliper mounting points.

Is there any way you can snap a few photos of the front caliper of a SRT6 and post them on this forum ? Unfortunately this problem has forced me to miss a race this weekend and lose points for the season.

Well i'd love to but,

1. I don't have a digital cam nor do I know how to get them into the computer.
2. I not comfortable enough at this place to ask people to help me take a wheel off a crossfire and take a picture, a manager would ask me " how is this making money today".

If I were at my previous store there would be no questions asked and I'd have 10 people ready to help at a moments notice. Maybe in a few weeks I could pull this off but by then you will have your problem solved.

Sorry man.

I'm still in that new guy phase, ya know.

Don't sweat it ... Worse case, I can run over to my dealer, they have 8 SRT's sitting on the lot...

Has any upgraded to the 3.8L kit? Just curious about the powerband. You know what they say, there is no substitute for cubic inches!
