Default Why bother me?

I was driving my Crossfire on the interstate yesterday minding my own business, I look in the rear view and see a state trooper with his lights on catching up to me and pulls me over. I said to my friend out of all the cars around why bother me. He walks up to my car and leans over and asked me how fast I was going. I said 69 he said don't lie, he clocked me at 70. I told him I know I was going 69 and I want to see it on his radar and I asked him if he pulls everyone over for going 4 over the speed limit. He told me that his job is to pull over speeders and not to question him. He asked me if this was my car and I said yes. He said are you sure this is your car I said, yes again. I only got a warning out of this thank god. But the question is why am I getting bother for going 69 in a 65 when my car is capable of 150+ and there is civics with fart cans that can't handle 110 without the feeling of losing control.

Thank you for listening.
I needed to vent.

I had a CHP or chippy pull me over. I thought he was going to rear end me because he was speeding up in my rearview mirror. I pulled over thinking he was a truck or fast car not a chippy and he then pulled over too and turn on his lights!!! He tried to give me a DUI ticket. I passed perfectly! Then he said, I'm writing you a speeding ticket! AS*hole I guess he didn't like that I told him "I thought you were going to HIT ME"!!!

It's not power UNDER CONTROL...but power OUT OF CONTROL!

The only way we can get away from the violations that they slap us is to use their devices against them. They cannot accuse you of speeding if they didn't use their radar guns and they cannot tell you you're reckless driving without a using a video. Those allegations are circumstantial and it's their word against your word but you got a chance to let them prove it and to show the technicalities on why they say you violated an ordinance. There has to have PROOF and not just hearsay!

Cops have abused their power especially the state troopers because they thought they are the untouchables! Which can be true 'cause you're fighting against a giant - the US government! All you can do is file a complaint to the Internal Affairs and that report will haunt their future promotions even if the IA dismisses the complaint (expect a whitewash). There is politics inside the police department and their file will be opened up one day and then there's your karma!

Bottom line is...if you are innocent - fight them in court and don't let them (cops) get away with their crimes!

I can't believe the way these cops have acted against you. It almost makes me not want to drive out there on major roads in fear of them pulling me over for no reason.

Even if I do complain to Internal Affairs though and they dismiss the complaint, I'll still have the ticket on my record. I'd rather not get pulled over in the first place.

NJ the world leaders of stopping people for DWB, has one good cop after all.

Friday afternoon before Christmas I'm cruising at 70 mph when a big Ford Explorer fills my rearview mirror. I curse at the idiot, drop a gear and loose him as my speed-O hits 95 mph.

Suddenly the two tiny headlights light up like a Christmas tree. Great 95 in a 55 zone.

Guess what the cop falls in love with the car, ask to sit in it, and wants to know how the rear spoiler operates.

Tells me to look around next time and have a good day.

go xcrossfire go

??? You lost me on this one, mind explaining. I hardly think police officers "envy" our cars, it's not a high $$$ exotic that only the rich can afford. And if he was made out a "real loser" I doubt he would of given just a warning.

Ok, in the last month I have met one Texas Highway Patrolman, and one County Deputy Sheriff. Both stops were right on...I was speeding. I was polite, and courteous to both officers. When the trooper stopped me, I drove a little further up the Interstate, and pulled as far off the shoulder as I could to give him room to walk up to the car. I received a written warning, which did not go on my record, and a verbal warning to slow down from the Deputy Sheriff.

These folks receive a lot of abuse from the public. Surprise them. Admit you were speeding, if you were, and be polite. I always address them as Officer. Don't raise your voice and don't become confrontational. You will be surprised how many of them appreciate a little courteous behavior. And, if he is off on the speed, simply tell him your speedometer was reading XX miles an hour when you saw his lights, and he may be right. Don't argue. My last ticket was in Nebraska, in 1986. It works, try it.

I have been pulled over twice in my Crossfire. Both times no ticket. 1st time by a NY State Trooper on the LIE. I was very polite and explained I just got the car and was not used to it. I was doing 85 in a 65. Officer said to watch the speed and let me go. Second time was by a local yocal in the next town over. 65 in a 35 on a nice curvy road... Officer walked up and said "that thing must corner on like it's on rails, huh?" I said "yes it does". Asked what year it was and ran my license to make sure I was clean. Said have a nice day and I was on my way. Another time I pulled up to a construction site and the officer was holding traffic and I was the first car in line. He rolls down the window and says "wanna run it". "I said, even if I win, I lose. Maybe next time when your not in the Crown Vic." He smiled and laughed.

Point of all this is cops are humans too. Treat them as professionals and they will most of the time do the right thing. Keep in mind all of the losers these guys deal with on a day to day basis. And no, I am not a cop.

much agreed... i always admit to speeding when doing so. and apologize to them for not paying closer attention. don't challenge an officer for doing his job. no one reacts well... if you tell them they are wrong... especially the law. admitting fault without confrontation goes a long way. your chances of a warning will increase. i get pulled over about once a year for speeding... i haven't had a ticket in over 8 years. knock on wood.

I wonder if it works at the end of the month where the cops needed to reach their quotas or shall we say "goals" ?

I strongly disagree with the system of making them "revenue makers" because they hang out too much on the highways where criminals don't roam! Plus, imagine the pressure they'll also get 'cause if they won't reach their quota, they'll be re-assigned to another area.

If they've only been visible all the time on areas where potential criminals will try to commit a crime, some crimes may have been prevented!

Whenever I make eye contact with a cop, I just smile at him and I always get a smile back. Most of the time that is in traffic, so there would be no speeding possible, anyway.
I agree with Andrew. No one takes criticism very well, and it usually makes them mad.

It's not what you drive, but how you drive. Put someone that doesn't know how to drive in a new Z06 and tell them to do a lap as fast as they can on a real track, and give a pro driver a stock crossfire, and I bet 99/100 times the amateur doesn't beat the pro's lap time and most likely wrecks.

Very true words. I have seen the scenario you described happen in real life except the vehicles in question were a Ducati 916 and a Kawasaki ZX-6. Going fast is 90% the operator and 10% the machine. Any ham-fist or leadfoot can point the thing down a long straight road, mash the throttle, and make it go fast. Throw a few curves in there and its a whole different story.

Don't believe me? Go find your local autocross (for cars) or battletrax (for bikes) club and run an event with them. You will be amazed...
