Default CD question

I know this should be in the audio forum but this one seems to have a lot more viewers. When I put a CD into the stock stereo you can hear the motor start to wind up. It stops after a short while. Has anyone else experienced this or is my CD player going bad? Never did this before.

This is a dumb question, but does the CD actually play? If not that's obviously a trip to the dealer for a new stereo. If it still plays OK then I wouldn't worry about it. If it dies later on, well that's what you have the warranty for.

Yes it plays, the whining sound is only at the start of playing a CD. I think the motor is starting to go out on it.

Thanks.

cfire, I think it is normal for the player to make a bit of a whining sound on startup. After I posted may last response I went outside and stuck a CD into my player. It whistles/whines for about a second or two before it starts to play as well but has never given me any trouble. FWIW, I have the "old" style radio in my car (white letters/black background).
