I have just added member Az4R1 to the list attending Woodward #43

Gary, I just checked out the mapquest link you had.

I started thinking about it.....the path they have listed will take you along 6+ miles of woodward, most of it at a crawl. (remember trying to get to the restaurant last year!)

As an alternate route I would suggest:

1) stay south on I-75 to Big Beaver
2) Big Beaver west to Crooks
3) Crooks south to 13 Mile
4) 13 Mile west to Woodward. Once at this point it's up to the individual drivers to get to the lot in the southwest corner of the intersection. There's entrances on both 13 Mile and Woodward, but it's a left turn into the lot off 13, and you have to do a "Michigan turnaround" if you take Woodward. (Michigan turnarounds mean you have to go north on Woodward about 1/8th of a mile then go through the median to do the U-turn so you are heading south towards the lot.

No matter how you slice it, that corner is going to be busy as hell on Saturday.

Looks like a great route plan.
I will make copies of the detailed portion of the map and bring 50 copies to Woodward as hand outs for everyone attending.

I just found out that I can make that trip. Without reading thru pages of postings and info, can you PM the details to me. How many nights do most members stay? Can I still get a reserved parking space? Is there a block of rooms reserved for the Crossfire members?

I havent gone through all 25 pages of this post.. but I just found the forum today after having some issues with my crossfire.

wont need a hotel.. i live 5 mins away from CTC and 20 mins from 13 mile.. actually my grandparents live off of 13 and a half in royal oak.

This will be my first year with the crossfire.. i also have a 98 neon rt that ive taken down there a few times

 

The list for the 13 mile/WW lot is updated for the deadline of 6-30.
Our second parking lot location is just south of 9 mile on Woodward Ave at Zion Luthern Church. The church provides bathrooms and they watch the cars for us. We have mentioned "the Church Lady" , Betty, who last year had many cars moved so we could arrange our cars in the lot for a photo. Bring a chair or two to walk the 40 feet to Woodward to sit and watch the cars. Valk will handle the list/spots for this lot. I think we have 4 members there already.

OK it appears we will have filled all 30 spots at 13 mile and Woodward.
Now the list of members attending will shift to the 9 mile and Woodward parking spots at the Zion Lutheran Church
(last years location)

Church lady (Betty) is holding 15 spots ($10 EACH) for us and we can probably request more if needed.
Although our group will be divided it is only for part of the day Saturday while on Woodward.
Those that park at the church will be able to leave and return to the church if they choose to make their way to 13 mile to see our other members but I can't say for sure how close you will be able to park or how far you may need to walk to do so.
The main thing is access out of and into the church is not really hectic at all.

Ok, how come the two organizers are parking at the church at 9 mile; do you know something that we at 13th/Woodward don't know? You guys should be commended for your generousity.

Rapps (Ann) and I just discussed that originally 13 mile was to provide 50 spots and early on it was reduced to 30 spots and out of out control.
As our member list grew we decided that if indeed our group was going to exceed the 30 spots we would go to the church to allow a few extra spots for new members and others to have the opportunity to park in our spots.
I want to be sure that everyone has a great time and I assure you that from what I have heard 13 mile is the place to be.
We will probably try to come over and visit for awhile if we can get near there.
Besides there is also gonna be Woodward 2009 !!

 

The only thing i dont like to see about this is both organizers of the parking wont be there.If there is any problem with space nobody is really going to know what is going on.
