Woodward Dream Cruise - August 16, 2008 - Detroit, MI
I know check-in isn't until later, but I will be at the hotel before noon so I know where it is. From there I plan to get some lunch around 12:00, then drive over to the museum.
Anyone is welcome to tag along if they like.

I have a (coffee table) hardback Chrysler Museum Book I am bringing along if anyone would like to look through it. My local dealer was giving them out a few years back. Nice History.

If I remember right we got there a little after noon last year and they had our rooms available already.
See you all at Woodward
I was still planning on going to the museum.
Just figured I'd wait till the last couple of weeks to try to hammer out a time. If it's anything like last year, this thread is about to get hit by a lot more people.

Suggest we try to be at Marriott as close to 12:00noon in order to go to Museum as a group, say at 12:30p.m. How does that sound to everyone? Those who are interested in going to Museum should add their name to this "QUOTE"

No problem................you posted just about the same time as my post; you appeared to be a little unsure and waiting until later to confirm; glad you added your name to the list.

Just a heads up on the room reservations- I just called to reserve my room for the 15th and the lady said the hotel is totally booked with the exception of the ones being held for us. There are only 5 rooms left in reserve for the crossfire members for the 15th and only seven left for the 16th. I would suggest you book a room ASAP or you might be sleeping in your crossfire for the night.

Thanks for the note Frank.

Update: North Woodward Shopping Center (parking lot) @13 Mile
This lot is an irregular rectangle with the usual strip mall style of stores running on two sides one south the other shorter side is the west side connected to create a right angle. Just behind the west side is the huge Beaumont Hospital easily seen from a distance.
Our 30 spots are in one long line along the south side starting from the back corner where the two "legs" (south and west) of building connect. In other words they are in the south west corner of the lot, in one row running east to west.
To get to the only entrance (to this lot) you must drive south on Woodward. Just past 13 Mile Road you need to be in the right hand lane (west side of WW). We will have some ID as paid/reserved, a badge, paper pass or sticker of some sort.
As I mentioned before a completely new organization has taken over running the WDC. They will have the space directly behind us. Channel 7 (TV) is to be there interviewing them as well. Personally I won't wear something that a forum member finds (on line) and later posts here which I'll regret
We can leave during the cruise. It helps if the remaining members keeps an eye on the empty spots. When we leave for dinner a barricade will be available for us to block our space.
Crossfire banners Other than tying the banner to your car there aren't any posts or holes in the paving to make use of. I saw a car dealer who had a (free standing) stand that the car tire rested on in order to keep it in place. Picture in my gallery. It's a thought.
The lot is marked off before we arrive so parking spots are clear and organized.
I was told earlier that this one entrance then exit arrangement created a traffic flow so Cruisers could drive through the lot for some kind of judging contest or what ever. If this is still the plan it seems to me there will be cars driving by us all day. Good to show off the XF, but exhaust fumes can be excessive. There maybe shade next to the stores during the day, but an umbrella might make us sun sensitive folks happy. Its an asphalt lot, hot.
There is a lot behind Beaumont Hospital, The South lot, that normally is open to the public and free to park in. We checked it out, it's huge. I couldn't find out if they monitor it on Cruise day. If you need to park a car it might work. If asked say your there to visit a patient.
UPDATE FOR RESTROOMS
We now have a deal with Leo's Coney Island at $5.00 per car ($150 total) to use their restrooms on Saturday.
They are open for business as well, it's really busy.
The Coney Island is in the corner of the strip mall near us.
I need a member to volunteer to print up the list of the 30 cars/members using the lot and collect their $5.00 CASH SATURDAY MORNING, then pay the owner on Saturday morning.
It's a done deal at $5, I think he'd liked more, I refused.

.................and the half dozen or so Canadian ex-owners of their Crossfires have been denied assistance as the Canadian Consulate in Washington has determined that urinating in public contravenes the Kyoto Accord for excessive pollution guidelines.

Do you think the hospital would notice if an additional 100 or so people walked in to use their washrooms every couple of hours. Would anyone like to volunteer as a patient.
