Ann, I canceled my hotel reservation as well. I will not be needing it Friday night and will be heading home Saturday night.

Cancelled the hotel. Planning on sleeping in the Crossfire overnight? WOW...I'm impressed, that takes determination!

Am I right that we have a couple seats available for Friday night or Saturday night dinner? A Detroit friend of mine might like to join us. Let me know.

Tom I'll count heads let me get back to you. Question: friend as in one or more than one? Thanks.
I went and met our 13WW lot contact today. Thought I was getting passes/stickers for the cars, we don't need them. It turns out that -C -R -O -S -S -F -I -R -E -S are the only car club there. The lot has WOMC (radio station), Chrysler, a family with a couple of hot rods that act as volunteer help during the cruise, Grand Nationals and us. A little more interesting is that, to my knowledge, the Chrysler people don't know about us. Might provide an interesting moment or two.
When you come into the lot off of Woodward Ave, just south of 13 Mile, drive along the stores, which is the only way you will be allowed to go. When you get to the "back" of the lot you will see us pull into your spot.
Another thing, the road construction on 13 Mile between Greenfield Rd and Southfield is done. This means you can drive directly from the 13WW lot on 13 Mile Rd straight to Tavern on 13.

[James1549] Someone please decide what channel to use the FRS radios on please! Just say a number![/quote]
I don't know anything about FRS radio channels in this area, use number/channel 4
Apkano, Needs Wings, Herbie53 and justice all live here. Next try harbor, nox1s, ApolloFX or msxfire. they are near but don't live by the cruise.
If no one posts anything to correct it use channel 4

I am in agreement, let's use channel 4 and sub-channel 14.
Any disagreement with this? Thanks, Ann...................we needed that.

We might want to think about keeping the sub channel at 1 because when we ran the Tail of the Dragon we started out using 7/7 but some of the FRS radios didn't have sub channels so we had to use 7/1. Just a thought.

I plan on leaving at 4:00 am in the morning and I hope arrive around or before 2:00 pm. Hopefully there will not be any problems on the trip this year. See you all there.
Me , FP , Hawksview and Mike&Debbie will be meeting Friday morning at 9:00 and should arrive about 3:00 at the Marriott.
I plan to check in and hang out at the hotel to meet and greet the arrivals still coming in.
A cooler in my hatch will also be there to welcome folks with a cold beer.
Hopefully we will not have any rain and I won't need a wash at Harbor's place.

As of this morning, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday look to be absolutely gorgeous as far as weather goes.
All you out-of-towners, I have one word of caution.........WATCH THE ROAD!!!! People think I'm joking when I say Michigan roads suck, I'm dead serious. I travel all over the country, and to Europe quite often.....I've yet to go anywhere with worse roads than Michigan.
FYI: the speed limit signs in Michigan are there basically as a suggestion. Don't be surprised to find everyone going at least 10 over. Even if traffic is going 15-20 over, if you run with the pack you're basically being a safe driver and should not have any problem with the law.
Sorry, I have no idea about FRS radio's.......don't even have one. I might go out and get one though.......any recommendations?
Everyone be safe, and have a great trip on the way here, can't wait to see everyone again!
P.S. Pat.......stay away from the trucks!
sorry, couldn't help myself!

On my way up north last Friday, I was going about 82 MPH and when I looked in my rear view mirror there was a state trooper. I moved back to the right lane thinking ticket time and he just passed me. I then followed him for about 20 miles doing 80-85 MPH. Look forward to meeting everyone and I'll be meeting up with Ann, Gary and Lisa early Friday morning. Give us a call on our cells if you want to meet-up when in get in town.

Good point................Let's go with Channel 7 and sub-channel 1.
Hopefully that is ok with ALL who have a radio.
For those who plan on getting a radio.........suggest getting a name brand like Cobra, Motorola, etc. and get the longest range possible. In Canada, those radios (pair) go for about $69-79.
I would also like to make a suggestion that whenever we set out to drive as a group, that we have a 'drivers' meeting to ensure everyone is on the same page re destination, radio channel and any other important information for cruising together. Nothing worse than following other Xfires and having no idea where your heading. 'Good Communication' adds to the enjoyment of these outings.

Channel 4 sounds good. You are correct that some radio brands do not contain sub channels. I would stick to a regular channel.

Ok Channel 4, NOT 7....................wow, can you imagiine if we had to make a BIG decision.
CHANNEL FOUR (4).......four for those who have radios...........sounds poetic.
I arrived here at about 1:45pm this afternoon with out any problems this time but for anybody coming from the east when your coming up Interstate 75 there are several places where the lanes go down to 1 or 2 lanes plus there is a detour you'll have to follow through the city for a short time. I don't know if there are any alternate routes to skip this or not maybe one of the locals can shed some light on a different route, if not it will probably add to your travel time. Everybody drive safe and see you when you get to the Marriott.
I just saw a TV News story about "Laid off" Chrysler workers who were boarding busses to make a trip to the Auburn Hills Coporate Headquaters to protest losing their jobs. They should arrive tomorrow.
My question, just what kind of a reception will we recieve when we show up in our "German" built Chryslers?
I'm not joking, things could get ugly.
I'm glad I'll be driving my "New AMX".

Gary/my husband saw the laid off workers today, they protested and to his knowledge have left. If they were there again, tomorrow, the group will be at the museum and hotel, but neither is at Chrysler Headquarters. He felt you have a valid concern, but they protested at world headquarters to show upper management and to make a statement. They were very peaceful at their rally and even took one of their own VT days to do this.
Next the only route around I75 north in Michigan I think is to go to the highway west of it, is it US23? Don't have a map handy. That is a nice road, easy ride, no trucks or pot holes.
