Thanks Ann, I thought the Museum and the Headquarters were right next to each other. It's been several years since the last time I visited the Museum.
I just remember there was a time (not that long ago) when some "Union" employees in Detroit were a little "unfriendly" towards "imports".

I work for chrysler at the belvidere assembly plant and there are quite a few crossfires in the parking lot including mine.Nobody has ever bothered any of them.Anyway here is an article from the freep today about the protest

Hundreds protest at Chrysler headquarters

Shutdown of St. Louis plant prompted actions

function NewWindow(height,width,url) {window.open(url,"ShowProdWindow","menubars=0,scro llbars=1,resizable=1,height="+height+",width="+wid th); }
More than 450 UAW members from St. Louis protested outside Chrysler LLC’s Auburn Hills headquarters this morning, unhappy with the automaker’s decision to shut down the minivan plant in that community.

OAS_AD('ArticleFlex_1');on error resume nextFor mp_i=11 To 6 Step -1If Not IsObject(CreateObject("ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFla sh." & mp_i)) ThenElse mp_swver=mp_i Exit ForEnd IfNext

“I am not just going to stand idle,” said UAW Local 110 President Joe Shields. “We’re an American car company, but they’re taking all of our work outside the company.”

Local 110 represents workers at the St. Louis minivan plant.

Jeff Hagler, president of UAW Local 412, encouraged his metro Detroit members to turn out to help support the protest.

“Local 110 is having some of the same problems that many us are having in other locals throughout the country,” Hagler wrote in an e-mail obtained by the Free Press. “Chrysler is outsourcing our work to many other countries including some of it going to third-world nations at the expense of our children’s and grandchildren’s futures. We MUST send a strong message that enough is enough. We at Local 412 have made it perfectly clear to the company that we KNOW that we can be a world-class workforce at a competitive cost.”

Mary Beth Halprin, a Chrysler spokeswoman, said the company worked with UAW organizers to ensure a safe demonstration.

“We understand their disappointment and concerns over the difficult decision to idle the St. Louis South Assembly Plant and reduce a shift at the St. Louis North Assembly Plant,” Halprin said in an e-mail.

”We are committed to treating those affected by the manufacturing actions in a socially responsible manner. Plus, efforts are under way to maximize available job openings for affected employees,” she added. “However, in order to support Chrysler’s long-term strategy to build a profitable enterprise, the actions taken were unavoidable and are a direct reflection of the current state” of the U.S. market.
The protest ended around noon.

My question, just what kind of a reception will we recieve when we show up in our "German" built Chryslers?
I'm not joking, things could get ugly.

I'm glad I'll be driving my "New AMX".

Hey, at least we bought Chrysler..................not Nissan or Honda. We can't help where the car was made.

Thanks for the update Hawksview, I should know better than to believe anything I see on the evening news.
And just so you know, I wasn't "bad mouthing" union employees, I just know how "protests" can sometimes get out of hand.
For the record, I was a United Rubber Worker for over 16 years. After all, I am from Akron.

Rick and Peggy you will be missed.
Asked Gary/mine, said could take even longer to drive from hotel to Woodys via Woodward that the 1 hour 15 mins I told Valk/Gary. He thought the 40 mins via highway might be 5-10 mins too much. If you get to the parking lot at the church early, let our XF into lot, keep other cars out! Frank just pulled up to our house I'm out of here see everyone soon, please drive safe.

I just want to say Ann / Gary you pulled off the perfect event which is very hard to do with such a large group. Ann- We can't thank you enough for the countless hours you spent preparing for this event. Gary thanks for all your efforts during the event to ensure it ran smoothly and the great coordination in getting folks from place to place. Who else could have convinced the police to stop all traffic on 13 mile so we could leave as a group from Woodward to proceed to dinner. Let's not forget Lisa who in Ann's unexpended absents took the bull by the horns and made sure dinner arrangements went smoothly. I'd also like to say I had a great time with all my fellow crossfire members and look forward to our next meet! Oh just some advise for the folks who didn't attend and plan on coming next year, If FP's hoods up, wear your sun glasses before approaching or eye damage may occur.
