Glad to see this is still going strong with others still getting off the fence. No matter the size, these are great events to meet with those you've not met before and those you've not seen in a while. When this one passes, I'll start out another thread for next year.

 

Erzer, you considering St. Lois again or just helping CAA #4 get off the ground?

 

So I picked up a side job at a software start-up. It may affect some of my availability during the CAA as crunch time is going to be kicking in August for a September release. I will however do my best to make myself readily available. I am kind of playing it by ear right now but assuming the worst case scenario I will be working while participating.

 

All the cars are running! Zo and I drove around Tahoe today, pulled off the road and took a dip. Hope everyone is ready for a great time!

Tahoe is a pretty lake to dive. Lots of boats have sunk but for me it is too hard to die, way to cold! I'd never really heard of someone using a dry suit growing up on the gulf coast. I wore a wet suit up at Tahoe and basically turned into a Franksicile! About 15 ft down... BRRRRRRR. Top of the water during late August will be around 65-70 degrees. An interesting fact is the water below 600ft never changes from 39 degrees no matter the time of year.
If I was going to do some light diving I would hit the secret beach on Nevada side or Emerald bay

 

No, I think we need other areas to sign up for this. Some have mentioned Texas in the past, others thought about going to Canada. My intent will be to help get the discussion going for a CAA #4.

 

So sounds like the timing for this gets even better. The Vegas to Reno BITD off-road race is Aug 17th. My boss sponsors a team that races a buggy in the 1000 class. He asked me to be on the support crew with him and 2 other people for the race. Can you say Hell yeah?!
So ill return home just in time to drive back down past Reno again for our vacation/CAA.

 

That off road race is pretty cool. There is an outfit here that lets you drive the same types of buggies around the desert for a short trip or for an overnight one. I have always wanted to do it but never had the time.

Sorry to hear you won't be able to go Evan! At this time, I plan on leaving early Sunday the 19th. I should be able to get to Wells, Nevada sometime that evening and hopefully meet up with Sandgrounder coming down from Jackpot. I finally get my tires this week!

On the first page is the tentative schedule. After chatting with everyone it seemed best to keep it a little open. Most people only want to do the Tahoe drive. There are a lot of things to do around the area. I have a suggested event for every day. We will see everyday who wants to join in. I think a lot of people will be hitting the Casinos. If others need suggestions for the evenings my wife and I will not be gambling and we can give you plenty of ideas. (Gambling just is not our thing as we live surrounded by gambling haha.)
