Crossfires Across America #3 Reno/Tahoe - August 21st-23rd 2012
Is that the morning of the 20th? If so, Tom and I(and traveling companions) can get some breakfast and wait for you.
From your previous posts, I see you are interested in Hiway 50. I am quite familiar with it....at least the central portion... and know a great lunch stop.

If anyone plans on doing any antiquing give me a heads up and I will tell you our, our parents and our friends/parents favorite places around the area to go.

The best way to get to US Hwy 50 from Elko is to head west on I80 to either Carlin or Battle Mountain. Turning south at either of those on good, state routes will lead directly to US Hwy 50.
Then it is a straight shot west to Fallon and on to Virginia City.
This is my preferred route also. I enjoy the solitude and desert beauty of Hwy 50 and an added benefit....totally misses the Sparks/Reno/Carson City traffic.
Plans have changed dcjordan and texas t will be leaving fri morning and meeting joejet in Amarillo then head to Denver
bump
With a little bit of luck, we (joejet, dcjordan, and texas-t) can meet rmaier in Denver on sat. Sandgrounder ,crroger in Elko mon, morning and drive into Virginia City together on Monday afternoon. Lets give it a try.
You guys up for it?

Are you leaving Saturday? I'm planning on leaving Sunday and staying in Elko Sunday night.
We are leaving fri. I am leaving from Oklahoma City, dcjordan and texas-t are leaving from Dallas. We will meet in Amarillo for lunch than continue north. We plan on 500mi or less a day. Denver to Elko is over 750mi. so we won't be doing that.
What time are you planning on coming thru Denver? I like your plan about driving 500 miles or less a day, plus it would be a pretty nice convoy!
Sandgrounder--- Dave & Carol----- Edmonton ---Alberta --- Canada
So far we have (Joe and Danny and company) from Texas and Anyone from OKlahoma? arriving in Denver on Saturday? Tom and Bernie in Denver won't be avail to leave on Sat until 1pm so will that all work out ? Myself and wife Marilyn are open to whatever we all come up with so we can convoy together.
Just wanted to see if there was any interest in the Group Drives other than the one around the Tahoe Loop?
Hope all has been well with everyone!

Would really enjoy meeting a group of Xfire folks here in Elko on Monday morning.
I live in the area so let me know if I can assist in any way,
Roger

I'm interested. Maybe a drive with food at the end, lunch or dinner?
I know great places to eat around the Tahoe loop as well as the others. I just do not know what everyone is comfortable paying for a meal. Would everyone give me an idea of what the are comfortable paying?
I also would like to have dinner the first night in Virgina City if that sounds good to everyone. There is a really great restaurant up there called Cafe Del Rio that my wife and I just love.
Here is a link to the menu: H O M E
It may be one of the few things I am able to participate in (no fault of anyone but myself) during the CAA.
