6th Annual Fall 2012 - Tail of the Dragon GTG - October 5, 6, 7
Ray,
You couldn't have explained this any better and you echo my very thoughts in your post !!!
My first time at the dragon gtg was spring of 2008 and I have been to every spring and fall since.
The only one I wasn't at was the very first one in fall 2007
This will be my 10th time coming down from Chicago and I can't imagine missing even one of these meets.
Heck last fall I drove down 10 hours with crutches with me after a knee surgery which I had not fully recovered from at the time.
Told my doctor I wouldn't t miss it and I didn't !!
As far as my job I have been fortunate to have flexibility to make these long weekend trips and they are aware of how important it is to me to attend both every year.
Although my wife of 16 years now has never come with me, I have her full support and she appreciates my enthusiasm with this forum and more so especially this meet.
The past few years most of you know I have flown in for the spring meet and drove 70 minutes from Knoxville airport in a rental car just to be with my friends.
You don't need a Crossfire to have fun with your friends after you have been to this wonderful place this many times.
Always a friend and a passenger seat to ride shotgun and still have a great time.
I will always drive down in the fall and have plans to continue to put together the FALL Dragon GTG for many years to come just as I have plans to replace my current 04 Coupe with a newer lower mileage roadster with a 6 speed manual in a few years from now.
So with all this being said...I'm looking forward to seeing friends and meeting new ones for many more years here
and the weather is looking great for next weekend.
Gary

Well said, Gary.
I just sent you a note on FB with my cell phone number. We need to figure out a time so that Eric, Ruth, Wendy, and I can meet you at the usually meeting spot.

Franc and Crumpy ran out of week ends. So a trip to Fontana is out this fall.
We will surely miss seeing you and all our good pals at the lodge.
Evan and Wendy will blow thru St louis on Wednesday. We will get to dine with them. Perhaps also on their return trip and they can relate the experience. That will have to be enough.

The joys of owning one's own business under current conditions.
Thanks for the thought my friend. Truely.

We did have plans to go this fall but, With the business taking so much in tims and resources , and the kids needing their new house conditioned and modified for three wheel chair residents, we simply cannot fit it all in.
The OZARK ranch has not seen us al lsummer and we need to finish some things there before winter. So the Dragon is simply not possible.
We will miss all you guys.

Well life got in the way and I will not make the Dragon. I recently retired and had my home up for sale. Did not expect it to sell but it did. So the car went on the car carrier and household goods went in the truck and we are heading south to find some place to live. Really wanted to go but just couldn't do it.
I'll follow along on the forum as best I can but it won't be the same. So for the rest of you - stay safe and have fun.

....just a reminder to be safe...

It kills me to say this, but my Wife and I can't make it this year. Thanks to a medical problem I'm experiencing, I'd never be able to negotiate the Dragons hairpin turns with a torn rotator cuff.
Now if I had an automatic with paddle shifters.
This is only the 2nd. Fall Dragon we've missed, and it's a GTG we look forward to all year long.
We hope everybody has a great/safe time. Post lots of photos.

Al,
Glad to hear you retired and are moved down to Texas
My best to you with retirement and a new home
Mike,
Hope you heal quickly,
I have had a total separation of the rotator cuff and I know it would be nearly impossible to drive the dragon and the mountains.
To both of you best wishes and sorry life changes got in the way

The newbs are gonna get the wrong idea here: This is not about an 11 mile stretch of road, it's about us all getting together!
C'mon down, let the wife drive if need be and see the family!
