6th Annual Fall 2012 - Tail of the Dragon GTG - October 5, 6, 7
So nice to meet you today Tonygg. Congratulations to you both for a happy future. Thanks for the invitation to get together with the group and thanks for your generosity. Tail of the Dragon sounds like a must do for the future.
I just want to share what a great time Gaia and I had while attending our 2nd Dragon event. It was great seeing a lot of familiar faces, some of which were at Woodward in August, but remembering everyone's name is sometimes a challenge! While I always want to participate in events and make new friends, some of you know I had another agenda which had Gaia and I leaving after lunch to "do our own thing".....little did Gaia know that I was going to propose to her and that's exactly what happened Saturday afternoon! We had just spent an hour in the little town of Murphy, checking out some artisan stores including a wine tasting when we started our trek back to the lodge. After an hour of driving, and after just seeing two deer romp through a meadow (a sign maybe?), I found a quiet spot at the side of the road where the scenery was perfect and the moment felt right. Taking Gaia's hand, we went for a walk through the woods when I stopped, turned to her and proposed. Gaia said Yes!!!
So while it would have been great participating in some of the afternoon runs...a much bigger event was happening in our lives...thanks to the organizers for another event well planned and hope to return next year...attached is a photo of us we took after our engagement before returning to the lodge.

Don't use the browser back/forward buttons. If it brings you to the cant be found page click home to go back to the main page, close the tab and try the link again. It's a weird cookie/history problem I think.
Amazing speed and skill here !!!

And here is a video shot by acrispy1 (Tony) driving from Fontana lodge to Fontana Dam about 3 miles away

Thanks, I was hoping you'd invented a way to get it to sit down on the dash - I need no more obstructions in my vision - the rear view mirror even gets in my way on twisty roads.
But I'll give it a try...

Here are some links to a few videos i posted on You Tube:
Some of Lisa's "Franklin Run" and at Fontana Dam.
They were my first "in car" video attempts with a cheap point and shoot camera, they didn't come out too bad.

These really turned out good. Nice work!
Looks like the Moonshiner28 Franklin run was the run to be on that day.
Our Cherohala run was fogged in at the higher elevations and the visibility was non existent for awhile that day.
I've done the Franklin Run and it is another one of my favorites.
Thanks for sharing your videos here.
They look great !!!
Come back next year !!
I'll be at both Spring and Fall
Spring ~ April 5,6,7
Fall ~ October 4,5,6
Being my first Dragon and a little intimidated by the roads, the SRT6's previously untapped abilities and my own conservativeness, I wasnt totally comfortable about racing around the mountains in the middle of a pack of enthusiats that may or may not be great drivers.
On Saturday I did the Franklin run with the group but some decided to stay in Franklin to shop, others were sightseeing, I decide to head back on the Franklin run on my own.
Ended up in the lead with three bikes on my tail with them following me for several miles. WOW what a rush. Felt way more comfortable in the lead and had an absolute blast. Got to a stop sign and the three bikers pulled up and were giving me the thumbs up and asked me to join them on another run.
I'm hooked !!!!
