Wow, Lisa - sorry to hear about that!
I made it home a few hours ago and have ten hours for laundry, sleep and packing for a business trip. I am SO TIRED, but I sure had a good time with old and new friends.
Gary and Kim - we did our best but I know we were not as smooth and organized as we should have been. I wished I'd helped you two out before so I learned the ropes better!
We sure had some AWESOME runs, including the best, least congested Dragon run on friday that has ever happened on an XF weeekend -it was like my runs last November!
(Only this time, with good friends and some damn good drivers!)

Nick I found a front rim and tire from my car in the storage building. Fit in the back of the coupe and I met Lisa and Michale in the parking lot of that Appelbee's where we ate in Asheville at 12:15. They were going to retrieve her car this morning. I hope they remembered to check the air pressure.
Sunday morning, we did a Skyway run. We lined up at 10am, and Nick, Topless and I ran ahead kinda hot. Hellbender was great, but we got behind some slow traffic.
At the Gap, we turned left and headed down the hill - about the time we got to the bottom of the hill, I heard someone on the radio say; "..... all thru..." indicating the line behind us had caught up and all made it thru the Gap.
Just after that, I heard Pacemaker say, "Do I smell tires?"
Yea, 12 tires was what he could smell, about 90 seconds after we'd gone thru! I foolishly arrived at the Dragon with rears down to wear marks - by the time I got home, (and really before I even left Fontana) my rears were virtually slicks. The only way I kept up with Nick on the Skyway was that he was not running full out!
Like I kept telling new people; "If I stay on the road in the turns, the rest of you should be just fine, unless you panic and really stand on the brakes."
I would also like to inform the group that the VWs lost one car in a turn (some damage, not totalled) and the Gens lost one (some damage, Eryk said they'd probably get the car fixed in a few days). Both groups had more cars than us.

We ran hard, but I don't know if I will ever run the skyway full out again. It's just at a speed I don't tend to reach on public roads anymore. I had a blast running with everyone this weekend. Mark you've come a very long way. Topless I really enjoyed meeting and running around with you. Nathan (Ibedoughboy) you and Shawn (Easley15) are some lucky *************. Never have I ever had a run through the dragon that wasn't interrupted and y'all had your first times uninterrupted. Shawn my favorite run this weekend was chasing you down on hellbender and I believe that will be one of my favorite runs ever. If you ever decide to do a track day somewhere please let me know because I think we could have some pretty epic hot laps.
Thanks again to Mark (pizzaguy) and Jonathon (Pacemaker) for pulling off a great dragon.

Like I say, get there on Thursday and enjoy friday before the mob shows up. Of course, fact is, traffic was minimal all weekend - look at the skyway and Franklin runs: no Harleys to speak of and no OTHER traffic to speak of, either!
Yea, we ran hot enough Sunday to have fun - I don't see any need to go beyond that, the fines (and probably other risks) are just too much.
I keep trying to think of my favorite run over the weekend - but can't! I just had so much fun!

Oh, and thanks Nick. I've learned a LOT from you! (And Franc, and Kim and Gary and....)
Ok, here is myself, DirtysouthSRT6 and ibedoughboy running up Hellbender hill on Saturday after our Franklin run. I will be posting the video Dirtysouth (Phil) shot (facing rear) of ibedoughboy in his Z3 on this run in a day or two.
I'm still not as smooth in the curves as I should be (something I've still got to learn from Nick!) but it was a good run. LOTS more videos to come, but it takes SO long to send them to YOUTUBE!

I just talked with Lisa.
She is so very grateful to all who helped her and were there for support after she cracked that wheel.
She is almost home now and in good spirits.
She said it was a terrific weekend other than the setback with the broken wheel.
We as a group need to decide if we need the chestnut room for drinking in the evenings.
If alcohol can be consumed outside by our cars or in our individual rooms throughout the evenings we can still have the use of the lobby to socialize.
We just cant consume alcohol in the lobby unless it is purchased from the Bears Den Lounge within the lodge.
It is not unreasonable for the lodge to set these rules for our group or any other group.
They have the right to make money serving alcohol as a business and protect their liquor license at the same time.
No contracts have been signed as of now for our fall GTG other than for our rooms.
Looking forward to coming back in the fall - October 4,5,6

Friday I had a few lol beers during the drivers meeting and stayed there with 6 other people until we all decided to leave. I don't really think the chestnut room was used like we thought it would be.

Looks like a great event again. Sorry I had to miss it. I hope to make it this fall.
