7th Annual Fall 2013 - Tail of the Dragon GTG - October 4, 5, 6
Then you need to work with RED DOG and swap that single king that I'm sure you got for 2 queens.
Hi Valk, Cindy and I will be there (Bob & Cindy Davis) . . . I just made our reservations to arrive Thursday night and depart Monday morning. We booked a room in the main lodge with two queen beds but would actually prefer a room with a single king bed. We will gladly trade reservations with someone with a booking in the main lodge who needs or prefers two queen beds. If someone wants to swap reservations e-mail me at RedDogNumber1@aol.com and I'll take care of making the swap with the Fontana reservations department.
I think one of us is confused . . . I have a booking for a room with two queen size beds. I'm looking to swap for a room with one King size bed. It has to be in the main lodge because I need reliable WiFi service.

Got ya on the list
Our original contract consists of the following room block held for our group until August 30th
Thursday - 15 rooms / 2 queen and . 5 rooms / 1 king
Friday -... 40 rooms / 2 queen and 10 rooms / 1 king
Saturday - .40 rooms / 2 queen and 10 rooms / 1 king
Sunday - . .15 rooms / 2 queen and . 5 rooms / 1 king
You may get WIFI in the lobby but there is NO WIFI in the lodge rooms.
As far as cellular phones.....forget about it....they are pretty much useless in Fontana Dam.

and good to know for the spring dragon!
I'm guessing cel phone service isn't an issue?

Hey thanks for the clarification on the WiFi. It will still be easier to walk to the lobby from a room in the main lodge than to have to drive up to the lodge from one of the garden rooms like I had to do last fall . . .

You might be guessing wrong. I have Verizon cell service as well as a Verizon MiFi system. Nothing worked in or around the lodge area (except in the lobby of the lodge). Very spotty service throughout the entire area of mountain roads we traveled.
I just need a room where I can snore un-interrupted. Bed is optional.
I didn't know there were any AT&T "fans". As far as AT&T wireless, they are usually ranked at or near the bottom for both customer service and customer satisfaction . . .
But the mi-fi has been great vrs dial up/satellite (one way) internet access.. rural living..
Yea, there is little wireless internet or cell service ANYWHERE up there. THe lobby of the lodge has a "micro cell" site, and there is service in Robbinsville (And I'm sure Franklin, NC.) But when that biker wrecked on the Skyway, GenCoupe people drove like maniacs for MILES to get a signal to call 911.
It makes a good get-away when you can honestly tell people back home that you are not reachable !
I usually check in with my sister when ever I pass thru Robbinsville, cause I know it's about my only chance.

AT&T does work on the back deck, during certain phases of the moon.
Also, AT&T will awaken you at 3:00AM with voicemail message notifications. But you cannot respond.
So it will remind you again at 5:00 AM

I should have confirmation from the lodge shortly for RedDog's extra seat, but we are all filled up. Looks like it will be a great group, my apologies to anyone who wanted to join but will not be able...
Thanks to everyone who made it incredibly easy to organize this small outing. Since it looks like most of the group was planning to go with Ray and Susan's group to the car museum and brewery Saturday morning/afternoon, everything should work out fine. I will have a concrete departure time at the driver's meeting on Friday night so if anyone wants to do their own thing on Saturday, they know what time to be ready to go
We LOVE the fact that we can get away from work and everyone else for a little while, don't forget your FRS radio
