7TH Annual Spring "Tail of the Dragon" GTG April 2014
Re: 7TH Annual Spring "Tail of the Dragon" GTG April 2014
love the video Michael, and Gary's whoa comment, on the fast bend.I think i was behind Lisa, that was a good fast run (by my standards anyway)
Re: 7TH Annual Spring "Tail of the Dragon" GTG April 2014
I picked up a screw on the other side of 129 and luckily right on 441 in Maryville
We were within a few miles of a tire shop, and they actually had my 2 fronts, and got them replaced and us back on the road in under an hour.
Many thinks to C&D tire and Lisa for patiently waiting with us .
They took great care of my baby, and I am very particular.
When I was there I explained to the sales woman that we come here twice a year and do these runs and have frequently needed tire help or replacement and get stuck.
She very graciously offered to stock any sizes and types of tires we need for the cars, as long as we give her a heads up.
When the next Dragon thread gets started, I will remind everyone, since we can not make the next one.

Excellent, thank you, Gary!
Her name was Jennifer and she was fantastic. She will be the one we need to call before the next meet. I am going to have her get stock sizes, and if anyone has any specific requirements, we can do that as well...

Nick and I were discussing the Dragon just before it kicked off -we knew it would be either a 'bad' one (the weather was questionable and many of us regulars could not make it) - I see that it WAS the usual great time.
As I recover from the darkest illness I've ever had, I will become quite sad that I didn't make this event - there were so many first-timers coming, and I live for the first-timers.
I am feeling better, have some more time to fully recover, but I am now believing I will be back 'with it' in maybe a week. Yesterday, last night were turning points, so it seems. Let's make the Fall Event the best one yet.

I've been a slacker and have not responded to the events past week. What a great time! Despite airline drama and not arriving to the lodge until 3AM Friday morning, it was a great time catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.
The "Flying Squirrel" did surprisingly well on the Dragon. The autostick certainly received a workout.
Friday's drive on the Road to Nowhere was great! Who can forget that tunnel with the great acoustics?
Saturday's Wayah Rd adventure was fast and furious to say the least. Inge did an awesome job driving.
Sunday's drive? Simply divine.
Here is a video recap:

Looks like folks had a great time at this spring's ToD GTG. Glad to see groups are taking alternative routes to ToD itself. There are so many good roads throughout the area that one can drove different routes for 2-3 years. Hopefully we can make the fall event.
