8th Annual Fall 2014 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 3, 4, 5
Yup, they might be right
Just checked the forecast for Friday and it's 100% rain
Saturday and Sunday though are 0% so that's looking to be in our favor
How bout we just take are wet shoes off at the door on Friday and move the BBQ into the garage.....LOL
Don't really know how it will all go now ....just gonna have to wing it if that's OK.... although I'm sure your friends still need a head count for the BBQ

I wish we could but,,,that won't work. Wayah Road is paved and so is Rainbow springs road. But they are just a smidgen straighter than the Dragon. The BBQ is up on a mountain and in dry weather, one can climb the driveway with two wheel drive. The BBQ might be in the garage but the garage is virtually impossible to reach in the rain.
As of now, We plan to do the BBQ on Saturday. Friday, I may just sleep in and rest. It has been a hard few weeks at work. And the House rehab is taking it's toll.
I need the ZZZZ's and curling my toes up to the lobby fire place with a glass of Glen Fiddich sounds like a plan for Friday.

Ya a relaxing Friday hanging out at the lodge would be a first for me but I can picture it among friends.
We would definitely be a good group to make up the welcome committee
Marty & I are stopping someplace in southern Missouri or maybe Paducah, KY area......depends on when we actually get away from the house....2 p.m. is our goal. Like to be all snuggled in by 11 @ night somewhere.
By they way, how many hours does it take to get to Fontana from Nashville?
As for the BBQ, we are okay with whatever the hosts decide...but wondered if we would be back to Fontana in time for the Sunset Cruise on Sat. night?

FYI (something I just recently learned) - Go to Google and type in "mileage Fontana Dam NC to Nashville TN". You'll get the mileage, the estimated drive time and a suggested map for the trip.
Looking good. Love the SSB SRT6 and the new Blue Roof. One question, why aren't your covering it fo the trip? Too much wind buffeting on the car with the cover on?

If you are running across US 60 southern MO that is a very beautiful drive and rather easy. Nashville to Knoxville is about three hours with an hour to get to the lodge via 129 the Dragon. The BBQ is just east of Franklin on US 64. About one hour back to the Lodge via highway 28 or even faster via 441. You will have plenty of time.

You know what we call this in the biker world don't you? LOL. As far as maps and times.. LOVE my TomTom! Looking to be in Nashville tonight.. Leaving a nice little 4 hour hop to the Lodge Thursday morning..
Yes I know (we ride Harleys too) . . . The Crossfire is just not comfortable for that long of a trip (1800 mile round trip for us) / not enough room to pack everything we need (lots of beer) / I want to keep the unnecessary miles off the car. It will be on the trailer again for CAA6 (THANKS for spearheading that GTG!). See you Thursday night in Fontana Dam at the lodge . . .
Trailers? Trunks stuffed with a week of clothing? You poor sad saps who live so far away... All I need is a few shirts, gopro, radio and $1000 bail cash and I'm on the road.
Rain and cold........I have that here...... We shall see..... still painting, trying to beat the bad forecast for tomorrow. Where did summer go? I am not finished yet....
at are age we are never done , LOL
