8th Annual Fall 2014 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 3, 4, 5
As Pizzaguy (Mark) summed up the weekend in his own words
Where else can you:
Meet a pizzguy in a dunce cap,
watch two guys change a water pump on a girl's car without the right tools or supplies,
get your car that runs for 50 miles at a time fixed,
Freeze your a$$ off at 5771 feet above sea level,
learn what "Asshat in a Mercedes cap" means,
get a bunch of really cool and professional-grade photos of your car flying down the Dragon ,
meet the best car nuts ever,
taste "jungle juice" (then get car sick the next morning) .....
and follow it all up with a short Bible study and church service on Sunday Morning at the lodge with Pacemaker (Jonathon)

Mark, we didn't get a chance to run together.....but everyone was fast to me!! Maybe next Fall Dragon.
Nick, I did lots of research on the net 2 yrs ago when I bought my first full set of 4 Pilot A/S Plus. They were the one's mentioned as the best to run. Also, read to expect only2 years out of them. I was @ 1 year 11 months and 27 days......pretty darn close to 2 yrs.
Dealer told me that they discontinued the A/S Plus and the A/S 3 took its place....Directional to non-directional.
Mark, guess we'll see how it goes. Had been having my tire light come on and off over the last few months and checked pressure each time, even at the Dragon. Pressure was always good. Did notice a little bit of a rough ride develop over that time and had my balance & alignment checked...all was okay.
Anyway the Dragon did me in and now with the new tires we'll be ready for the CAA in June 2015.

Mark: I'm definitely going to take that statement as a compliment!!!...Yes it is correct...born March 17, 1939..on a tobacco farm in Pawley Swamp, S.C. ( 15 miles inland from Myrtle Beach)..been a car "nut" all my life..this Club really has enhanced my car interest 100 fold...Thanks to the entire club/members...looking forward to these GTGs is analogous to waiting on Christmas when I was a kid... So, with almost 1,000 miles on the clock since MrMiata performed his wizardry,,,,my Engine light came on. just as I pulled into AutoZone for a Jeep Part.
I took it as a divine sign and had the codes pulled. O2 Sensor on the right side. So I bought one. $ 118.00 Bucks.
It goes in tonite.
I'll cure this baby yet.

Gonna try to have them on YouTube within a few days.
I spent most of today going in circles with American Express and their telephone "customer care" reps - who appear to REALLY want to help, but are not trained to understand their own system.
Leaving Jim and Trish,,,"there they go" Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7dT_7Sei_A What a great day. Thanks to all who came with me.

Thank you for posting up all the videos. Sounds like a very successful Dragon run, but, hey they have all been successful Dragon runs. It is those trips home, we usually hear about something happening. Sounds like everyone made it home alive. Even Franc. We won't want miss fall's Dragon next year. I will been in Arkansas in June. Taking a couple of weeks off. Not going near work. I came close to doing an all nighter Friday night to get there for breakfast Saturday, but I was pooped enough already. And as you all found out, two days isn't enough to enjoy it down there, and one day just didn't cut it. See you all in June or October.... And, yes, I have decided to keep both the XF's. Getting them out and airing them out, has me smilin' again.
Doc,
I'm glad you have chosen to keep your SRT's
The meets get better and better every year
See you at one next year I presume
Don't let work get in the way of fun
Ya gotta keep those two things balanced ya know
Good to hear from you

yes, work has been a challenge Gary. It is hard to say no when it was you who tells them it can be done. Leadership thing gets in the way sometimes. As you know it is harvest time and resources, meaning drivers, are limited this time of year. And, it didn't help harvest is running late this year. So to all my Dragon meet friends, I am sorry, but the company I work for now, just opened up TN to market in. I have been to TN in my big ole' sports car, and soon NC will be added. If you think running those hills in a XF is fun, you should see me in a big rig, well, no you should not see me on the Dragon though. We stay on the truck routes. Things will wind down, and it will be back to normal next year weather permitting. It is always a great time down there. I know AR will be similar...Till next year.
