I am supposed to be going to a Canard Fly-In in Rough River Kentucky that weekend. All dependent on getting a right seat ride in someone else's Canard. If I am unable to go there I will definitely be in for this event. Sounds like a blast. I would love the chance to get my Crossfire on the track.
Evan and Scott, gotcha both on the list. Hope your schedules work out so you can make it!

Roychez, they run groups of 12 cars at a time on the track. The cars are lead by a pace car which sets the speed. No passing is allowed and you can expect speeds to be between 80-90mph. If you hang back and get some distance from the car in front of you, you will be able to achieve 100+ (only if you want).
Once the laps are over, you can go back and get in the front of the line to do the laps with the next group going out. Many people doing it the first time want to go do it again.
Lunch at Babes and the afterwards poolside party make this a fun social event too.
Can we count you in?

Well folks, our track time has been set for 6:30. That means we need to be at the speedway at around 5:30 to sign everyone and pay.
Now, here's the rub, they increased the fee to $40! As the lady explained to me, it includes a tee shirt and entrance to see a movie (Godzilla) on their new Big Hoss TV. I told her the group won't do the movie as we have a pool party. She said we still have to pay $40. Repeat rides on the track are $30. Personally, I find the $40 ridiculous! and have lost my desire to attend. I know it's charity...but...
What is everyone else's thoughts?

Dan, I feel that the 40 bucks is just a small token to pay for the experience we all get to share. Sides, I could use the t-shirt to wax my cars….

Re: Texas Motor Speedway / Running of the Xfires - September 27, 2014
Dave, last year was $35 but they gave car clubs an extra lap or two on the first run so that made the additional $5 over 2012 worth it. The extra laps for car clubs was a first and I'm still waiting to hear back from her as to whether they are going to continue that policy this year. When TMS started this event, the cost was either $20 or $25. So a nearly 100% price increase over 5 years just rubbed me wrong.
I agree that not many people will ever experience driving their Crossfire on a NASCAR track and is great fun! Thanks for the positive feedback Steve and Dave!

I would agree with you Steve, AND it is for a Childrens Charity after all. AND on top of all that, WE have a Pool Party OR TWO. LOL
