9th Annual Fall 2015 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 1, 2, 3, 4
But anyway, you leave the lodge and head for Franklin on 28 or 129 - and then get on Wayah road (normal route to/from Franklin) and then turn right onto US64 just outside of Franklin. Go about 5 miles and they are on a road to your left.
Well, Gary, we are still on the fence.
Work has finally settled down, but my flooring guy put me off until last week of this month to install new hardwood, and I am redoing my deck the week they are here.
We have a cabin spotted we wanted to rent for the 1st-4th...but right now, just don't know if we want that much work.
Still working on the wife, so we shall see. Later...

I'm saddened to announce that "oledoc2u" will NOT be attending the Dragon
I just saw this post in another thread here.........
Wish you were coming but since you're not we will just have to talk "about" you and not "with" you
I just saw this post in another thread here.........
Next two weekends are out for me...new hardwood, and installer called to schedule for the 24th thru the 28th.
Which means I have to empty the downstairs of all furniture and appliances...getting too old for this stuff..
Figured I would be too tired for the dragon as well...so we cancelled out cabin for that weekend as well.
So if the weather holds, the wife and I are taking the roadster for a KY/TN run in mid October.
No plans just load and go...

My wife Tammy surprised me tonight and told me she would like to come with me for the first time to experience the Dragon
and all that I have always told her about these weekends with friends.
I hope she finds it as enjoyable as I always do.
Some of you met her a few times when she attended the Woodward Dream Cruise with me
I just reserved another seat on the Nantahala Train Excursion for Saturday and added her to the list attending as well as Franc's friends BBQ on the mountain on Friday
I plan to lead a group on the Cherohala Skyway run on Sunday
and all that I have always told her about these weekends with friends.
I hope she finds it as enjoyable as I always do.

Now all we have to do is pre-pay a "Shady Lady" to come up and greet Gary in downtown Gatlinburg!
JK, Gary. Look forward to meeting her!

It looks as if we will have about 17 newbies coming to this Dragon
There are several routes to run over the weekend but this twisty little road is only 9 miles from our lodge and one everyone must try at least once....
So here is a sample of what you will experience a few weeks from now....hopefully without an encounter with the police
Just a small section of road known as the "Tail of the Dragon"
Sit back and enjoy

To be clear, I've been watched NUMEROUS times by the County and TSP doing 50-55 and NEVER been pulled over. Darrly (who you meet in that video) will tell you the secret:
1) Don't tailgate
2) Don't pass
3) Don't act like a jerk in ANY way at all
AND
4) DO NOT cross or touch the yellow lines.
I was running with a few others back in 2011 or so, where we were following a van at 20-25mph, he was over the line all the damn time. The law went by us, turned around and came after us - and stopped the van.
Stay the hell away from the yellow.
