There will be a few of us in Different cars ,Susan and I will be bring the Corvette this time around and thinking there are going to be two three more Corvettes there also, some will be in rentals because will be flying into Knoxville and driving over and there few of us that sold off there cars but still like coming and seeing old friends , everybody in one line and everybody welcome , Crystal you going find out what great group we our, and once you find that out you realize that the Crossfire is just part of the fun ,

 

Bump - Three weeks from today Roberta & I will make tracks to Fontana Village, NC.

 

Dragon Convoy update. The North Carolina Welcome Center on I-26 Northbound looks like a great place for the NC SC contingent to rendezvous. It's about 10 minutes North of the NC/SC line. Tentatively let's plan to meet there at 2:00 PM on Thursday. Looks like about 2.5 hours to Fontana Village from there. Anyone have any other suggestions. Of course all are welcome to join if you are coming that way

 

Just few more weeks , and the fun will began , Just a few thing to keep in mind , ( Stay on your side of the road DO NOT CUT CONERS ! drive with in your means ! and most of all HAVE FUN !!!!!! the big groups are a lot fun but can be a lot more work to keep every one on the same page so have patience with your group leaders, remember we are here to in joy are cars and the roads and each other ,If you like to explore on your own and we have few that like do that then go have fun and have great day ! Valk please add one more Canadian to the attendees list and then BBQ. name: Todd Kocsis form Barrie Ontario. He will be traveling with Chris, Josie Gayle and myself. Side note we are planing on turning off highway 81 near Roanoke and drive the Blue Ridge Parkway all the way to Fontana Lodge.

 

Given those numbers, I guess it's a good thing we will be on paved roads with no big towns to traverse.


That said, we may have two groups with leaders and tails. With that many cars strung out, radios may not be enough. I could use a second leader who knows the route.


Let us hope for good weather.

A reminder. This event is free and our hosts will not except donations of money. But, feel free to offer a small gift of wine, micro beers, candies, or a token piece. Jim is into Porches and Trish like country décor. ( high end not gitchy)

Not a requirement by any means but this year, I'm offering a Gold Crossfire model.

 

We can do 2 or 3 or maybe 4 groups, Franc. Several of us know the way. We have the GPS coordinates to their driveway, so really, getting lost should not be an issue at all.

 

And weather forecasts 19 days out don't mean a damn thing to me.

 

I agree Mark but given the number of Tropical storms brewing this season, we may well see a wet one.

Have you check with Fontana they may have some rooms open

 

It is really a nice drive along the BRP, especially between Roanoke & Fontana. But realize the speed limit is only 45 MPH in most stretches; some are 35 MPH. Didn't know whether you had driven it before. It is definitely a scenic route.

Crumpy is stuck in Connecticut with the grandkids. She may well show up in the minivan. It's all cool.

 

we checked out the time this route would take using Google maps and estimated time is about 5 1/2 hour drive from Roanoke to the lodge so as long as its a nice day... We just are tired of doing hwy 81 all the way. So we will do both max speed on the highway and nice and steady on the Parkway hoping to enjoy what so many including yourself as being a scenic route.
