JUST FYI, our general channel this year is Channel 7 - no subcode or subcode 00.
We will use this channel for the run to the BBQ and for general calling when at the lodge.

Each run will use a channel assigned by the leader, probably defaulting to Channel 7 but that's up to the leader.

I have not had a TV since 2008.

 

So, 75 cars now.

We have 'em staying in lodge rooms, cabins, cabana rooms, friends/relatives within 30 miles of the lodge, Murphy, NC, Bryson City, NC and Robbinsville, NC.

I THINK one is staying in the campground down below the dam.

I have not counted PEOPLE, but it's gotta be over 120.

 

DRAGON UPDATE: Ok, we are up to 75 cars now and over 120 people. This will be a big, confusing crowd and I need some help.

See, it just occurred to me that I proposed to a lady at the Fall 2015 Dragon. (Alcohol was not involved.) Then, last year I proposed to two ladies (alcohol was certainly involved). That means I gotta propose to three this time.

I must ask that single ladies please indicate such on their name tags this fall. I can't be proposing to married women. The name tags will be on the welcome table - please write your name in BIG LETTERS and UNDERLINE it if you are single. Wearing a sign that says, "Lonely - Desperate - Low Standards" would also help.

 

I'm gonna leave this one alone; the set up is just to easy....

 

Those who may need a room look on FB there is a couple that had to move that weekend and can not make it ,look like they are holding it hoping that someone can take it off their hands

Hey what's up all!
Just joined the group a week ago and was excited to see an event not too far away so soon! I'm Joe and my girlfriend Megan has had her 05 base crossfire for a couple years now but it was in her family since new. It's stock but we're considering doing some work moving forward.
We would love to come out to meet the group and do some driving but we couldn't leave before Friday afternoon. Sounds like the boarding situation is tricky. We could possibly camp somewhere nearby. Or I thought I saw someone mention a cabin or something? Worst case just drive up Saturday morning from CLT. Any ideas?

Welcome, Joe. YOu can try calling the Lodge and seeing if there area any cabins left. If you end up with a 2 or 3BR unit I"m sure we will have people asking to rent a room from you.

Anyway, call the lodge and see what's possible.

We leave each morning by 9 or 930 for our runs, so if you leave that morning, if you do make it, you will be driving all day after that. And simply driving around with us and not spending time with at the lodge is really missing most of the weekend. Call and see if there's anything you can get - mention the Crossfires and maybe they will take it easy on the cabin rate.

 

Welcome to the forum. We would love to have you join us, it going to be a great turnout. Camping is an option. Try Fontana dam campsites, maybe go ahead an make reservation to a sure you will have a site. They have showers , that always makes it easier. Or you can look at some of the other hotels around the area. If you look back a few post you will find a list made up by ala_Xfire , to help those in this situation.

 

Just booked 2 nights at Fontana w/ the discounted rate! She said there was still a few left. So put Megan and I down for Friday-Sunday. We'll be getting in late Friday evening. I'll read through the forum again but if there's anything elsewhere I definitely need to know please point me in the right direction.

Well, here is something, there are some COOL lodging options within, literally, a few MILES of the lodge.

I wish we could stay Thursday night but Megan just started a new job and can't get the day off. The BBQ sounds like it would be an awesome start to the weekend. Next time no doubt.
We should be able to get out to the lodge early enough Friday evening to meet some folks and hangout at least.
