The Lodge is booked, the Microtel in Robbinsville and Tapaco Lodge are also booked solid that weekend.

SEE? We PREACH AND PREACH that if you want to go to the fall Dragon, ya gotta book a room way in advance. There is always the campground at Fontana. Other than finding someone to share their room, the only option to find lodging now is to get on the Lodg'es waiting list. A FEW people have emergencies and cancel at the last minute.

Im getting the idea that we will be reserving more than 40 rooms next fall.

 

Looks like Bryson City has hotels with rooms available in the $80 - $100 range for the weekend, but that's 40 miles away ( 45 minute drive from Fontana )

 

Can you post hotels and phone numbers? I'll cross post on FB, etc.

I will be attending, Wayne and Bob, 2008 areo blue, Oct 5,6,7. Florence Alabama.
I found a room at Quality Inn in Andrews, There are some rooms still available. Look at the road 401 out of Andrews to 310 to Franklin, looks like the Dragon.

 

The VW New Beetle group uses the Ridgetop for their host hotel during their annual ToD weekend in MAY. Group has been using it forever. We won't stay there - quite a downgrade from any reputable hotel chain (MHO). Wife & I stay at the Sleep Inn in Bryson City when we attend the Beetle ToD weekend. Clean & prices were reasonable ($80-$95 per night). Some excellent restaurants in Bryson City also.

There is also a Microtel in Bryson City. Don't know anything about the other 2 facilities mentioned above.

Matt the mechanic that worked with Rudy to build #5 V8 in Miami Fl. is coming to the BBQ and the dragon. his first time at the tail of the dragon . He also races his 65, it runs in the 10's . got questions I'm sure he has the answers.

please put matt and myself , my wife can't make it this time. on for the BBQ and the dragon ,,check in Friday Oct 6 and leave Sunday. SEE EVERYONE THERE. jim

 

How come no one has mentioned T-shirts (yet) ?

 

Because so much energy went into CAA8. The fact that we have almost twice the attendance at the Dragon does not change the fact that our team for CAA8 is tired!

ANYONE can step up and contribute - this is Andy's event and Gary, Thorn and I are helping with planning and execution and Franc is handling the BBQ. If anyone has time and energy to take on T-shirts or setting up zip-lining, a trip to the go-karts, rafting, etc. - just let one of us know what you are planning.

Personally, I'm STILL overwhelmed with my new job. I'm kinda maxed out with work, church and my new position with the Boy Scouts.

 

Plenty of T-shirts at deals gap and kill boys plenty to choose from .

 

Anyone coordinating pictures for a poster?

 

The Last fall and spring was sponsored by CICCI and that group , I'm taking that is not the case this year , there for the T-Shirts the poster and other small perks I'm thinking ,that not going to happen , But it was never there for the first 10 years of the Dragon meet , The real fun is in the people and the roads , I know Mark and Andy and Gary have been very busy this year with other events , I would like to see Mark have great weekend away and in joy it like rest of do , so guess the answer to your ? is no , but if you would like do something like that then I'm sure it would be appreciated , ( On a side note Mark, Susan and I would like to lead a group up to Water Rock Visitor Center on the Blue Ridge Mtn. Parkway Great Drive and great view along way with about five Tunnels you go through then on the way back do the road to nowhere and lunch Italian restaurant in Bryson , Hoping the weather will be great that weekend , Let's call it Ray & Susan FUN GROUP RIDE

I do T-shirts for my school sometimes, so if there is enough interest, I will design the t-shirt and coordinate all of that. I will do a poll in the Facebook group to get a vote on that (poll only open to those attending).

Also, I am not sure how the group picture works, but providing I can find a place to take the picture, I am a Photographer and I do have all of the equipment to make this happen. I was planning on bringing quite a lot of Photography equipment anyway. I can probably pack some in Marc's 6 coupe if I need more space (I am driving up in Belle Bleu, a Roadster).

Hey Crystal, I'm in for 3 (sorry not on Facebook). If you look at some of the past dragon posts they have some great designs or I say "whatever you come up with", would be great. When we get there I would be glad to help with the photo (I can herd people) or just make sure everyone get their shirts. If you need help, PM me an well talk an see what I can do to help. Last year there was a poster that was put out of all of the cars that attendant the meet I think this what he was talking about ,There is a lot us in this group love taking pictures ,more the merrier

 

I'm sure Andy will be bringing his drone this year and can get some really good pictures down at the dam ......
