Carole and I will be arriving Thurs and checking out on Monday. We will be leaving Virginia Beach early Thursday morning and traveling through Emporia, Virginia. Anyone traveling that route and would like to meet up and caravan let us know.
I was thinking that, too.
And I see quite a few who have taken the advice of getting there Thursday. SO, I guess we better bump Franc about Friday's plans. (Mountain villa or some runs?)

Funny thing happened last week, we (wife and I ) were on another road trip, we have been looking for a cabin in the mountains for about 4 months now,
last Monday we closed on a place in Blairsville Ga, it is 75 miles from the dragon,on 129, we got a used trailer to stay in while we get a cabin built. I do plan to be there in Sept. if i am there at the end of Sept. i will be at the tail of the dragon this year. The question is will i be in the crossfire ? as of right now,,, NO,, because the crossfire can not make it up the muddy/gravel/steep/uneven drive way, onto our property,, last week with all the rain only 4 wheel drive vehicles could make it up my driveway,,and a few of those slid backwards and sideways, I did find a way to get up there, with my ford fusion, SPEED,, yet i went up in 3" deep ruts of mud. The bottom line is , I will try my best to be there.
the one pic is from the deck of the trailer, looking at the tallest mountain in Ga. 4784 and we are 3800 above sea level. jim

So that's Brasstown Bald - the ATL Crossfires have gone up there twice in the past two years. Weather up on the Bald is more like that of New England than Georgia. Very interesting place. VERY steep drive up there, too. People have lost their brakes coming down the steep grade. (DOwnshifting is so "1950's")
