Dragon Thursday Night "Welcome" Gumbo/Potluck
So, Marc and I have been talking... We're going to make a big pot of Gumbo for Thursday night dinner at The Dragon. The plan is to freeze it and keep it in my car on ice (passenger floorboard), then heat up Thursday night.
I know there will be 80+ people Thursday night. It will feed a lot, just not sure that many. It will be spicy... Just trying to get an idea how many would be interested. Reply to this thread if you are interested in attending and please specify how many will be in your group. Also, if you are planning to bring anything, please indicate that as well. So far, we plan to provide the Gumbo, rice, disposable bowls/spoons and it will be BYOB.
Also please mention what time you would be interested in doing this... We will want to plan to have this event early enough for people to eat but late enough to be able to include people who are arriving later in the evening. As of right now, I am planning on having this event from 6pm-8pm.
Feel free to come and go during the time-frame... This is for everyone to get something to eat after a long drive up/down and also to socialize and meet everyone before the weekend's events begin.
PizzaGuy is calling the lodge in the morning to try to find a location for us to have this event. I think he is also going to inquire about access to a large pot and maybe a stove.
Worst case, we can heat it up in a large disposable aluminum pan on one of the gas grills. I think PizzaGuy also mentioned using the Community Center to host this event.

Lars n Joyce may come up Thursday and arrive in time for the potluck gathering. Joyce is severely allergic to shellfish so she wont be eating, but I will. Thanks ..Cruzn42.

First let me say how generous this is for you to prepare all this for us
With that being said count me in just for one I'll be arriving early afternoon and will be happy to assist in anyway I can with setting up etc
Your time from 6 to 8 sounds perfect and I'm sure that will accommodate nearly everybody that will be arriving on Thursday regardless of the time they're coming in

Generally speaking I leave St Louis 8:00 AM and get to the lodge about 8:00 PM. But the wife is tagging along this time so I won't know until ,,, well,,,Thursday AM.

Our exchange student from Germany will be visiting us here in the USA in October and coming with me to the Tail of the Dragon for the entire weekend.
When he lived with us in 2010 / 2011 he attended the Woodward Dream Cruise and TMS events with me and loved it so I know he's gonna love the Tail of the Dragon get together !!!
