Default warranty repairs completed

well i just got my baby back from the dealer for warranty repairs. they fixed the rear window defroster, drivers heated seat, replaced both headlamps and fog lamps, and replaced coin holder and center console. the only issue i have is the center console and ashtray don't match the rest of the dash. what should i do? the problem isn't the color its the finish. the original console had a "glossy" finish on all the silver parts. the new console and new ashtray cover have a "matte" finish. it matches in color just not glossy on the new items. should i complain about this? i had the same issue with door panels on a '99 LHS and they told me the color difference was minimal and that's what the factory sent. advise??? btw i have ordered the xpel 40 micron tinted (blue) headlight and fog light covers to keep them from pitting. think they will look good with my aero blue roadster...benji

complain.

this happened to me as well... my '04 had glossy silver trim and the '05 crossfire had matte finished parts. i had a mis-match when replacement parts were install... after some diligence... the dealer finally replaced them with the corrected original color matched gloss silver trim.

thanks, andrew. i will be calling my service advisor tomorrow. btw i have an '05 roadster. you stated in your previous thread that the '04 parts were glossy and the '05 parts were matte. did i get '04 parts put on at the factory? i like the matte finish better as well. it looks more like brushed aluminum and the glossy looks like "cheap" plastic if you ask me...benji

called my dealer and told them about the mis-matched dash. they said there were 2 different part numbers between the '04 and '05. i printed out andrews issues with his dash and the parts guy seemed uninterested. i told him he could have the printout and he simply saw the "crossfireforum.org" at the top of the page and said, "i will go to that website and check it out". okay, whatever... i just told them flatly i wanted the dash to match. i had the console and ashtray replaced and they are matte finish, then he said they may just replace the other pieces of the dash...a/c vent surround, a/c control and radio surround, airbag indicator and lighter surround and the gearshift surround. i told him i would like to have the satin (matte) finish on the entire dash but admitted it may be more pricey than just replacing the console and ashtray with the correct glossy finish items. he said the console they installed was around $1,000.00 and dc didn't have a return policy on that item. as far as price goes he said that was of no consequence, they wanted to make it right. i would rather have satin instead of glossy but at this point i told them i just wanted the dash to match. they said the person in charge of this decision was on vacation and would be in monday but they assured me they would get back to me on this and yes, they agreed it was a mis-match. that's the latest, we'll see what happens monday!! the saga continues...benji

Question Re: warranty repairs completed

Can you describe the seat heater problems. I think the rear window defroster is pretty self-explanatory, it's just doesn't clear the rear window correct? Or did it take an excessive amount of time to defrost the rear window? I think my car may be experiencing the same problems, the driver's seat doesn't heat up and I have waited at least 15-20 minutes. It should heat up by then, correct? And the rear window doesn't defrost, I mean I push the button and it lights up and after about 30 minutes it goes off and the frost/condensation doesn't clear. Thanks for your help -

first of all my rear window defogger didn't work because the clip where the wire connects to came off the window. they repaired it back in january and 2 weeks later it came off. i waited til i got more miles on it to get all of the warranty issues taken care of at the same time. since they fixed the clip againit seems to be done properly and i don't think it will come off. if your rear window isn't defogging check to make sure the clips on each side of the window are not only firmly connected but also thet they are secure to the window as well. btw the defroster switch on the a/c control panel turns on the mirror warmers as well. i checked both the other night, turned it on...left it on about 5 minutes then felt the back glass and it was quite warm. also the mirrors were warm as well. make sure your grid lines on the back window have no breaks. is your baby under warranty? it should get quite warm within a few minutes.the seat heater issues is another thing. just before the driver seat wuit working it would get really hot. like uncomfortably hot, even at low setting. they replaced the heating element in the seat and it works fine. hope this helps....benji

Ok, yeah that helps - My car is still under warranty, the seat heater doesn't do anything even at the highest setting, nothing - I guess I should take it in, the problem is I just took it in a month ago, to have them fix the cupholder under warranty - actually I told them to just take it out and replace it w/ the storage bin. That cupholder was driving me crazy, I was ok w/ it but everytime a passenger got in my car they would pop it out. Also it took them 2 1/2 days just to replace the cup holder, it seemed excessive to me - I had a rental car a sonata, but I still missed my crossfire - It seems I will have to take it in soon again, the weather is getting cold - Thanks -

btw i think they upgraded the cupholder. the one i had before had flimsy rubber side grippers and the new one has hard plastic ones. also the old one used to pop up by barely touching it. the new one you have to deliberately push down...hard too, to make it pop up. it works much better than the original one...benji

I see you mentioned headlamps replaced? Did they replace them because they were hazed over? Mine look awful and when I took it in last year for it (and a laundry list of other stuff) the tech wrote on the order, "headlamp cleaning is the responsibility of the car owner" didn't have time then to argue the point but I'm certain they shouldn't be hazed in 2 years. I'm taking it in again to get this and the power seat issue taken care of. Opening the doors to adjust the seats does not seem like a smart way to design the seat movement, especially while moving down the road.

i told my dealer they were fogging up when it rains. mine were hazed over very badly. i knew they wouldn't replace them for simply hazing. i also know there was a tsb on the headlamp condensation. i told the dealer both headlamps and fog lamps fog up when raining and they replaced all of them. they didn't investigate it they took my word for it. the new ones are BEAUTIFUL and tomorrow i'm having x-pel covers installed to protect them. the hazing is an eventuality with all plastic headlamps. there is only so much abuse from the elements they can take. believe me, you can get them ALL replaced if you ask the right way!! just do it before the warranty runs out...benji
