Pat/Golfergal, The leak I had came from the upper-rear section of the window -- right where the B-pillar would be. It ran down the bulkhead behind the driver's seat and pooled on the floor. If you haven't done so already, make sure you dry that area our real good or your car's going to smell funky. I slid the seat all the way forward, soaked as much up as I could with a towel and t hen left a fan blowing on it all night.

BTW, when the dealer checked it out, they left it in a wash bay with a hose spraying on it for about 5 hours, so don't be surprised if they want to keep your car all day. Good luck! I hope yours is fixed as easily as mine was.

I don't have my car back. Just got a call from the dealer and they said that the "part" they ordered (the window seal) was sent for the wrong window! It will another 3-4 days without the car before they can even get the part...then install it! Great, huh? He did suggest I could pick it up and bring it back in a few days, however, if anyone has read the weather report for the Northwest, it's suppose to continue to rain and Noah and his ark are not far behind. I will have to leave it there as it makes no sense to drive it with the expected rain storm that 's coming tomorrow.

Frustrated, yea, but not the end of the world...

We had to put our adorable little pooch, Alex, to sleep this weekend after a sudden illness. So his passing seems far more relevant than my car's window seal.

I'm going to trust (gulp) that the dealership will do what they can to make this okay. They dried out the carpeting and said it seemed to be fine. I will give it my smell test before I take ownership of the car. It's been protected from the elements since last week.

Maybe you want to suggest they sprinkle some baking soda under the carpeting before laying it down again (once its totally dry). I hear baking soda is supposed to absorb odors. Just a suggestion. So sorry to hear about your dog. Things like that put the everyday BS in perspective. Hope things turn around for you soon. Been following your weather woes each night on the news and hope things dry out soon.

Our beloved dog, Alex, and my son, last Christmas.

Yes, I will definitely keep on top of the carpet concern. Thank you for your well wishes about our loss. He was an adorable member of our family and will be missed more than words can express. His death was very sudden and unexpected. He did have a good life and he lived it to the fullest.

Thanks, FP. We laid him to rest today....I already miss his sweet spirit.

Got my car back today. It was dry and free of any bad smell, thank God. They had water running over the top for over two hours...no leaks. We're expecting a huge wind and rain storm tomorrow, so the test will come at the end of my work day. I'll let you all know.

They replaced the window liner. Crossing my fingers all is dry after our storm!

Major league storm today and no leaks! Hurray! I parked in the elements, and I ran back and forth a few times to check on the condition of the carpeting. All was dry. I do have some drops that come in when the door is open. I am taking that as normal. It's not more than a few drops when the door is wide open. Naturally, I try to get in and out as quickly as possible.

Lost power at work...lights flicking right now. Just broke a record for the most rainfall in November EVER in the Seattle area! (almost 12"). Needless to say, I miss convertible weather!

Move to Arizona. Rain? What's that? Sure it's a little warm in the summer, but you will get used to it...

Stacie,

Perhaps you should check into the Crossfire "pontoon" aftermarket option. They mount to the doors and come in 7 designer colors. I drove I-5 through Sea-Tac on vacation this summer to Victoria, BC... Traffic sucks going BOTH ways, ANY time of the day, even on WEEKENDS... Took 2 hours to go 20 miles. How do you stand it?

Anyway, glad you got your weather stripping worked out. Here's something to try to make it easier to check for leaks... Put some dry paper towels or kleenex in the purported affected area. Go about your business. Come back and check that the kleenex/paper towel is perfectly flat. A single drop of water hitting a paper towel/kleenex, even if it dries up quickly afterwards while you are away, will leave a ripple mark where the drip originally hit. Febreeze will take out or cover any hints of odor... assuming you prefer the smell of Febreeze over the odor.

Sorry about the pooch... 16 years is 112 human years, so that's pretty good.

LOL...yea, "sea legs" were not part of the deal when I bought my car. Great idea with the paper towel and/or kleenex. I will definitely do that!

Our pooch was only 10...so, getting up there in dog years, but this breed can live up to 18 years! We have "one" lhasa left as the sole survivor of the 3 we use to have...and I'm not even a "dog" person! Ha...He's 13 and seems to be doing fine, but so was our precious Alex a week ago.

Lights have flicked off and on last five minutes...tv went out and now it's on. I don't have a good feeling about what's in store for tonight.

YAHOO!
Guess that means no more indoor foot bath for you while driving, eh? A luxury you can do without!
