Tail lights access???
'Ok, how the heck do I get to the tail lights so I can put my silvervision bulbs in? The owner's manual is a piece of crap in telling you how to do it. I can not find any access panel that the owner's manual describes.
Pull off fasteners that keep the side panels on. I think there are about 4 or 5. Pull off the side panels/carpeting, and you will have access to the tail lights.
Ok Thanks. They sure don't make it easy do they? I bet these engineers that design cars purposely sit around and discuss how hard they can make it for people to work on them. I really think they get off on it.
Actually if you have a coupe there are small panels that simply pop out that gives you access to the taillights. They are located right behind where your taillights are.
I didn't realize the roadster would NOT have these. I would agree that is VERY short sighted of the engineers.

All you have to do is get the top in a position with the top up and the tonneau cover open.
Use a flashlight and you can see the bulb holders quite easily.
You will have about 20 minutes before the top pump releases it's pressure, so work fast or stick a cut-off broomstick between the cover and the rear window piece.
And by the way, it is really easy to replace the bulbs, just stretch the cover in the trunk after taking out just 1 screw on each side and replace it (for roadsters, at least.)in 30 seconds.
thanks guys
found out my problem wasnt only reaching it
but having a bulb that looks exactly the same other than the nub being on the other side
makes for difficult placement
now off to find brake pads
