Mechanical problem - ideas wanted
My roadster is about 6,000 miles old. Fantastic car that is a joy to drive and give the bounty hunters a rude shock! However, the other day, me and the wife were on the 7th level of the City main park - drove from home to there no problem. Went to collect the car and it wouldn't go, it starts and then 'hunts' from low rpm to about 2,500 then cuts out. Called roadside assistance, very helpful but nothing they can do at the roadside - or the 7th level of a multi story - so the car had to be tilt trayed to the dealer. This all took about three and a half hours. The dealer gave us a loan car to get home. This was over a week ago, they have absolutely no idea what the problem is and thought it was the air control valve - couriered one in from the eastern states (we are in Western Australia) but no joy. They are in - they say - continuous telecom with the Chrysler folk chasing assistance. Had anyone had a similar experience? If so what is the opinion on this reoccurring? You can get very isolated here in Western Australia and to be over 500 miles from roadside assistance is less than a days drive. Any opinions that may help in getting to the bottom of this would be gratefully appreciated.
This sound a lot like the problem I had a few weeks ago, but turned out to be a loose battery connection. I'm sure the dealer's team of experts would have checked something this simple though.
Have them test the Transmission Control Module (TCM). Mine was faulty and when they replaced it, all the problems with low RPM's went away and the car has been fine ever since... now mind you, it took them over 4 months to find the problem. If its the TCM, the error codes will not be documented in the computer, as there is a disconnect somewhere.
Good luck...
