Close the trunk!
Nice weather in this neck of the woods, just going out for a spin to blow some dust off the hood, Click Click and nothing! A quick check and the battery is dead, trunk not completely closed, second time I have done this, also the last time, I am charging right now, and have removed the lamp from the trunk fixture, so no more problems! Has anyone else had this problem?. With a dead battery I could open the door with the key, this was a topic some time ago, I can't remember if it was resolved or a faulty lock assembly. No drive today as thunder rolls in the distance.
Re: Close the trunk!
Interestingly, the owner's manual states that:
As I recall, that feature worked for the hatch/trunk light, too, which I noticed when changing out the interior bulbs. You might want to have this checked. Good luck.
BATTERY SAVER FEATURE
To prevent battery drain if a door is left open or ajar, the
interior lights will turn off automatically after 15 minutes.
After the door is closed, the interior lights will return to
their normal function.

Re: Close the trunk!
It's not the trunk light. I just did the same thing - killed the battery. Asked a service mgr and he said that leaving the truck open triggers safety features for the convertible top - which electronically keeps self-checking until the truck is closed. Thus, even with the light bulb out, you will still kill the battery.

Re: Close the trunk!
Interior lights go off in 5 mins, with door open, trunk light stayed on for half an hour, would have been longer so I guess that could be a problem! I disconnected the light assembly. The electrical interlock with the top sounds logical, my spoiler deployed when the battery was recharged! With the light disconnected I will leave the trunk open and see if I end up with a drained battery again!! How ever the lesson learned is "close the trunk!"
