About to Buy a Xfire
Hey, great site I just signed up after following it a while, Any good feedback appreciated...I am about to take the ownership plunge on a NOS Limited roadster, the car has only 11 miles the dealer said that it came via Chrysler through an auction and maybe I will not enjoy all the warranty from the factory was titled as new to Chrysler then, if I move ahead it would be x'ferred to me as used. '05 loaded less nav $26k any comments? Thanks.
I just bought a 2006 Base Coupe in Aug. '07 for $18,800. Never thought to apply the NOS term to it...I like that. My dealer had a handful of limited roadsters for around 27K.
Anyway, It may pay to search out a 2006 as mine qualified for the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty (2005's Do Not). Below are some details of my purchase that I posted to another thread.
My purchase was made at Hillview Motors (Greensburg PA) on 8/24. What attracted me to Hillview was that they published the discounted price for all of their XFs on the internet which no one could match or beat. Believe me I tried. No dealers in Northern Virginia would get within $3,500 of Hillviews prices. In addition to the price, Chryslers new unlimited mileage powertrain warranty that applies to new 2006 XFs purchased after 7/24/2007 sealed the deal.
I always loved the Crossfire and hope that I would eventually end up with a used one. I always figured that they would depreciate fast (no offense, its just that people have no idea what an XF really is . I also figured that there would be many low mileage used ones available because for many folks a Crossfire is just a toy and doesn't get driven much.
When I purchased my XF, Hillview had 19 new 2006's in their inventory, at last check they have 9.
See Hillviews inventory for their published internet price.

I stumbled across Hillview Motors this summer and found that they have the lowest prices on New XFs anywhere (see their online inventory). I have since learned that Steve White Chrysler in Hickory NC may have similar prices and a larger inventory.
My salesman explained to me that with Chrysler offering a $10,000 check to the dealer for each XF sold, that Hillviews owner wanted a Million dollar check from Chrysler. To do this, they managed to take delivery of 104 XFs in the Feb. 2007 timeframe. It was decided that they would sell the XF "at cost" and use them to meet their monthly sales goals for cars sold. He went on to say that they did a similar program when Neons were replaced by Calibers.
You can walk onto any Chyrsler lot and the usually the only discount they will offer on an XF is the $10,000 and no more. Hillview goes way beyond that. They say they are selling it at cost. If they aren't, they must be close.
I am not trying to make a Hillview commercial, I only wanted to share my experience so that others may take advantage. I feel that my XF purchase was a deal of a lifetime. Never again will I have an opportunity to purchase a new Mercedes sportscar with an unlimited mileage warranty for well under 20k.
Lovin my Crossfire.

Interesting post, a fantastic deal too, the fleet manager said that this unit is on his books only for about 30 days, and was just listed for sale, they wanted $27.9 and decided to come down 2k's more. I suspect there probably is more wiggle room, I want to exhaust all to strike the best deal. I am in CA and it would actually pay to negotiate one in PA and have it transported. The Xfire here in CA though is White w/ Vanilla leather, a little different, but interesting, I am going to research more... Thanks.
The PA to CA thing would be a problem.
Perhaps you can find a west coast dealer who is selling XFs like these two PA and NC dealers. If not, perhaps their deals can be used to help you in your negotiations.
Good Luck.

I took a visit to the websites (Hillsdale) they have '06 roadsters discounts 12K & More for just around 28K, not bad, though the cost still may warrant shipping, but I am wild about the lifetime power warranty. Good advise appreciate it.
Check out AutoTrader.com to see a lot of Crossfire's for sale.

I've had my '05 Roadster for about a month and I just love it.
Here's pictures of mine at Drivers Way:
http://www.geocities.com/rich35242/Crossfire.html
DriversWay received two more "new" Crossfires after I bought mine. They sold the black one, but still have one exactly like mine.
See:

and enter 35242 for the zip code.
I don't know why they want more for the used Crossfires on their lot, than the "new" ones.

Here is an '05 w/33 miles for $23,850: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...QQcmdZViewItem
You can always find one far away and have it shipped to your door (like I did). You can pay for a Carchex inspection (www.carchex.com) and have the results/report emailed to you the same day of the inspection.

Thanks for the links, very appreciated! These are some sweet deals, I am going to investigate the window sticker for California Emissions. That's what I need for bringing it in here to CA...You know they way everything is... CA's gotta be different, But because this opens up to more choices, I love The Grey, but looking at the red maroon one you have its awesome! Best Of luck!
This will be a tad difficult, but I do not want to hesitate, because these cars are flying off the clearance rack!!!
I may go with the White w/Vanilla, I put a call in and offered a little less, they are working on it, so if I can do it for around 24K I may not regret it. But I will be googling late and examining your leads for my Monday last minute phone calls. Again Thanks, I will keep you posted on what happens! Will be in one reeeaaal soon!l

I purchased a new 06' Limited in CA and a "NOS" 05' SRT-6 from Ill.
ALL Crossfires, regardless of model, and "where sold" are smog legal in all 50 states. (I called Chrysler on that one).
You will have pains registering a "new titled" automobile in CA if you buy it out-of-state unless you register it (with plates) in that state first. I think you must wait one year before getting CA title.
NOS or "previously titled" AKA "Used Car" - no problems registering in CA. MY SRT was delivered and all I had was the Certificate of Origin from Chrysler stamped "used Car" in red - signed over to me and CA DMV happily registered it.
So if you want the lifetime warranty you need to buy a "new" XF - then good luck with CA DMV.

I have looked at many XF's last night. Again finalizing and narrowing it down, some as low as 11 miles up to 5K miles 05's & 06"s ...Well here's the scoop. I'm learning, all that's out there even though they are "NEW" they actually technically are not since Chrysler held these, they were sold at auction to the dealers to release them. So they are Exec cars, the best out there is continuance of an 8 yr 80k powertrain on an '05 Roadster, a couple coupes do fall within the lifetime PTW, but far and few. Anyone know if the lifetime warr is transferable?
Thanks For The Info, The LPW is not a high priority only for the reason the resale I predict will be well for the car itself once we look back at the history of this car will be like when they become a rare dinosaur, then everyone will financially respect the vehicle for supply & demand value, so a LTW will not be a selling feature, and I doubt I'll have the car forever, hopefully a good long time though, I feel that this will be the best deal I have struck in a long time on a new car, I have seemed to soft committed to a white roadster w/ vanilla gut 6 speed & no nav w/ 80 miles, or a yellow auto roadster w/ vanilla & nav, If all permits I'll have it Wednesday.
A short story... On good new car deals, in late 2000 I found one freezing cold evening on Long Island at Mcnamara Buick Pontiac a white Bonneville 20 Mi SSEI Max loaded, HUD Moon roof, Tan Leather, not a thing missing MSRP $34,XXX, the window showed 1998, Well I ran to the showroom and the only one there was the Sales Mgr, inquired and said give me price, Its gotta go, Not knowing what to offer, I put the ball in his lap and he said I'll do it for $20,5... Warranty started that night 3/36 that car had zero lot rot and was factory fresh, it missed factory rebates 2 model years and no one bought it cause the $ was too high and missed first incentive for a late '98, sold that baby 1 1/2 years later with 5k Mi for 2,500.K more than I paid though a private sale. The XF will repeat that and then some so I see into the future with a wise investment, and as we no vehicles are not investments, but that sometimes is arguable.
So... white 6 spd or yellow automatic? Hard decision!

New here, have had Crossfire for only 3 weeks, have learned a lot here and just had to chime in on purchasing new Crossfire. Got to remember the northeast gets snow in the winter dealers don't sell summer cars well in the winter Camaros Firebird Mustangs all bad in the snow you should be able to really get a good deal just bargain. You will really enjoy the car... We surely do.
