may purchase
I'm considering purchasing a 2005 roadster limited w/approx 8,400 miles. My concerns are lack of future parts, car being out of production affecting value, and what price to pay. Asking $21,900. We love the looks and ride, but have reservations. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
You sound just like me. I adopted my '05 red roadster on Labor day and can't stop congratulating myself. Being mostly Mercedes parts, I am not concerned with availability as much as with cost. It is a rare car, but I don't think I will have as many issues as the owner of a vintage collector car.
Hope ya' buy it, it's a HOOT!

You will not regret it, I was sitting right where you are now last week, I just got a 2005 Roadster on Wednesday, Love It actually more astonished now than at delivery, (was a left over / leftover) with 20 miles or so, I did not just impulsively buy one with my research and great tips & advice from this forum, I feel content and have not one regret, no buyers remorse either. This really is a hell of a lot of car, you really raise the bar in the quality, status, German Fit & Finish, and bragging rights!
The parts issue is really not in the danger zone, I think that you will always have access, besides let your warranty worry about that, However...way way down the road and parts are an issue and with that being said, be objective, your car in parts could be sold for huge values by parting it out , Would hate to do that but thats a positive objective point, so really there is not a grim side.
Good Luck.

Buy it. I have a 2005 Roadster Limited bought "New" in April 2007. I also owned an exotic of which there are only 629 made. I was able to get parts for it after 15 years! A bit pricey, but they are available. The are 60,000 Crossfires, we'll have parts for years to come. Good Luck.

Still a fairly low production vehicle by today's standards.

Also I should note that you better love the car because if you ever decide to sell it, you will take it in the pants, that is if you can even find someone to buy your car from private party. The dealer is the only way to buy a crossfire and with the lifetime warrantee!!
Some of the new car dealers that got these cars back from Chrysler, if not eligible for the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty (which by the way I learned is only for the original purchaser only) give a warranty as certified 8/80 which is transferable for a fee of around $100 to $150 to the next buyers. That is what I wound up with, I had about 20 miles, was a Chrysler holdback, and even though I just took delivery, in actuality the warranty started last Feb, since thats when the dealer actually committed to the unit, or when Chrysler sold it to the New car dealer. Weighing it out I think the 8/80 works better for me if I sell it more than 3 years down the road and offer the Chrysler warranty to who ever buys it.
Also, The 3/36 also kicked in (in my case on Feb '07 as well). Just another door for you to explore.
