Piece of latch for top fell into the top of windshield
Need some help with this. On the dragon we would hear a rattle as if something was rolling around in the front (dash/door/glove box) but didn't find anything. When we put the top down we found that a plastic ramp with push pins (for latch to connect too) had fallen into the metal housing that runs across the top of the windshield. It is rattling and rolling/moving when you turn a corner to the right. I tried to use various things to move it manually to the latch area get it out and also tried to push it with the "force of the shop vac" but no luck. Any suggestions? thanks in advance.

I think that's the kind of things that happen when you name your cars :-) Okay seriously, I've not heard of that one, but now I have something else I'll need to worry about! I'll keep on eye out for answers from people that know Crossfire's better than I do, which is probably about 99% of this board. Good luck!

Mike,
The weird thing is this plastic ramp piece is not very well designed in as much as it fell out on both sides and we didn't even know it was a removable part. Gary realized what had happened (to creat the noise) when the second one popped loose as he opened the top. The bottom of it has those spreadable tab clip things, all plastic and don't they seem to stay spread apart enough to lock into the metal piece below. I'm putting a tweezer in the glove box so if it slides to the latch hole I can snag it. Maybe a little sticky stuff on them before reinstalling them? The names?? not for the car!!

On the left is the passenger side showing the piece which fell into the retangle hole. On the right is the drivers side showing the piece still in place. It's still in there we carry around a pair of bent nose tweezers so if it slides to the opening I could snag it. No luck so far.
Can you stick a piece of masking tape in the hole sticky side up and then go fora quick ride? That should stick it to the middle anyway.
Can you try a telescoping magnet as well? They come in a variety of sizes and thicknesses. I have two sizes in my toolbox for dropped/missing hardware. It looks like a car antenna with a magnet on the end.

You know what? After reading this thread I went outside and checked ours out, and Ill be damned if 1 side isn't missing too. No noise but what will this cause to happen if not immediately corrected?
...so now that I've got a Roadster, I am curious about the outcome of your errant piece. Any lasting effects? Did you replace the missing piece? I noticed that one of those plastic parts at the top of the windshield that hold the top down do not match and suspect a piece of the driver's side part is missing on my car. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx,

Actually, that is the kind of thing that happens when you do not 'cushion' the top when you pull it over center as the last step before latching.
I usually sacrifice a hand to cushion it, but have found that if you are really careful, you can gently pull it over center and catch it before it slams into those 2 latch plates.

I agree...I make a converted effort to ensure the top comes down gently.
