Base (Cloth) Seat Comfort
I have noticed a lot of people with Base models have replaced their cloth seats. Since I am considering an SE roadster, I am wondering whether those changing their seats to leather are doing so because they just wanted to upgrade or if the base seats are less comfortable, have durability issues, etc. I live in CA so heated seats are not a big deal. I drove a base coupe a while back and the seats seemed fine but I didn't spend any signifcant time in them. I'd rather have power seats but as long as the manual adjustments get the job done, it's not deal breaker.
I guess my long winded question is this: if you have a Base/SE model, what is your opinion of the cloth seats? I've done a search and didn't see much of a previous discussion on it.

I have 49,000 miles on my cloth seats and they are holding up real well. I like the looks of them and have always felt they were really comfortable. We have taken several long trips and been extremely happy with them, I don't think you would be disappointed. My biggest gripe about the seats is that they don't have a release for them to fold forward, I am not that tall and there is quite a bit of space behind them that would be nicer to use with easy access.

I changed to leather/power because I wanted leather.
Cloth just seemed out of place on this car for me. It also confused me that I couldn't get an all-black car with leather stock.
So I changed things myself. If I was a big fan of cloth, I wouldn't have changed, the stock seats are great.

I love my stock seats...I went with the base model (cloth seats) because I did not have enough headroom with the leather/power seats....so without the power/haeting modules i fit perfectly.
Personally I like leather but my base roadster came with cloth. The only grip I have is mine are black upholstery and they are always in need of vacumning since I drive with the top down alot. They are not as maintenance free as the leather seats in my truck.
I HAVE A 06 SE AND HAVE BEEN ON A COUPLE OF 4HR+ TRIPS . MY HIPS HURT AT THEIR OUTER EDGES AFTER ABOUT THREE HOURS, WITH SOME STOPS OF COURSE, BUT OVER ALL I THINK THE CLOTH SEATS ARE FINE, I`M 5-8, 170# OF SOLID MUSCLE
. WELL THATS WHAT MY HONEY THINKS...
I have an 06 Std w/ blk cloth. Am very satisfied with cloth. I had a Cobra not long ago with blk leather & the seats were too hot on my Bum in the summer & too cold in the Ohio winters. Another plus to consider is no fancy electrical gismos with cloth seats to further to our cars electrical nightmare potential.
We have had our Base Roadster for over a year, and I have made two long trips in the car. One was over 12 hours and I did not have any problems. I am 6ft and around 220, and I am quite happy with the seats.
Because of short legs and a long back, if the seat was much higher, I would have to leave the top down all of the time when I drive it.

Having both the base cloth seat and the leather limited seat, I actually prefer the cloth seat.
The cloth seats seem to be flat and wider compared to the leather, something I prefer on long trips. The leather with all its adjustments seems to be harder to get comfortable to me. But I do agree the leather is easier to keep clean from the West Texas dust.

The leather seats in my car get uncomfortable during drives only two hours short. I would much rather have the cloth seats, but am I right to understand that the cloth seats do not feature heaters or electric adjustment?
The cloth base seats are very comfortable to me and the biggest benefit I see is that you don't burn your *** up if you want to leave the top down in the sun. I had an old Fiat Spyder years ago with vinyl seats that I had to put sheepskins on so I wouldn't end up in a burn center.
I read an article in an Automotive Magazine many years ago, that said that Fabric covered seats in most cars actually held up better than leather or vinyl.
As for the seat heaters that my car has, I know it's not a matter of "if", but "when" they fail, and I have no plans on having them repaired when it happens.
