Chenille Wash Sponge vs. Roadster Top = BAD
I always use the microfiber wash mits with the "fingers" on them...I think they work great and hold a ton of water and soap which I like. Last week I stopped to get a sponge and they were out of them, so I picked up a white chenille sponge. BAD idea. I washed the sponge before using it, but when I was done washing the car, I had a black convertible top that was now COVERED in white lint. What a mess. Good thing I had a lint roller for my dress shirts to get it all off. In the garbage the sponge went. Don't make this mistake.
Just curious but I don't wash my roadster top when I clean the car. Fact is I dont even like to get it wet.
Are you washing yours with each car wash? I clean mine only when needed with Raggtop.(like once a year)

I wash the top about every other time, maybe every third time...it's kinda hard to avoid getting it wet though... If it rains, I always wash the top too to get any dirt off it...
I gently spray my top every other wash to get the dust off of it, then use very soft brush and go over the top gently and then rinse. I find that if I blot the top dry with a waffle microfibre drying towel I get almost no lint. I have Raggtop protectant on the top and it's amazing to see the water roll off. I'll use the Raggtop cleaner and protectant spray once a year.
I use the brush attachment from the vacumn with my small dry vac, it takes off all the lint and dust too. I use diswashing lioquid soap and water in a bucket with a soft brush when I want to clean it, then power wash it off.
