Default Changing Engine Coolant

Since my car is about 5 yrs old now thinking about performing this task. Anyone done this? Any tips on how this is done? I've done it on lots of my previous vehicles but never on a Crossfire.

I decided last Fall that it was time to change the coolant in my '04.
Found the special antifreeze at NAPA. Make sure you get the type recommended in your manual. You don't want to mix the different types.

Put it up on a lift, unscrewed the drain plug and let it drain for 30 minutes. Opened up one of hte block drain plugs and drained the block.

Put in the new and am good to go for another 5 years.

(Caution if you do this at home. Antifreeze is extremely toxic to pets)

Me I use Prestone and it works.

What is IMPORTANT it that you use distilled water. The minerals in water will PLATE out on the radiator and motor leaving nasty HARD deposits that you dont need.

I also use a 10 minute flush thru the engine before I dispose of the antifreeze. Service stations recycle antifreeze FYI.

Glad you mentioned distilled water. I forgot to add that point.
My owners manual calls for Zerex and I was able to find it at NAPA.

Thanks so much for the info. I've used all color Prestone in all my previous sports cars and motorcycles with never any problem with distilled water. Thanks again. Tom
