Finally got around to installing this little gem today. A few observations:

1. There is some weird tether connecting the forward portion of my center console to the rear of the floor just forward of the rear bulkhead. For the life of me I couldn't get the damn thing to come undone - mostly 'cause I couldn't see what I was doing as I reached up and into the underside of the console. This also meant I had to remove the switch for the top and mirrors blind since I couldn't pull the console fully out of the way - the top switch was easy, the mirror switch not so much. Of course I then had to plug them back in blind - top switch was easy, the mirror switch not so much. Again.

2. That dang e-brake cover did NOT want to come off. I had visions of it suddenly letting go and me doing some serious damage to something when suddenly there was no resistance against my extreme pulling. In the end, though, it worked loose little by little. For me this was the hardest part of the install.

3. The need to splice into the pink wire w/white & red repeater that's on the mirror switch threw me for a second. I don't know why, but I kept missing the part about it being on the mirror switch - guess I figured I was installing something for the top so why look at the mirror. Too excited to get this installed, perhaps?? No matter, my bad as it is clearly written in the instructions. Me = moron. Sometimes.

4. THIS THING IS FREAKIN' SWEET!!!!!

5. Repeat #3 above.

6. Thank you, Rudy, for this terrific little addition to my car!

Just send me a self addressed, flat rate shipping box and I'll send you as many rocks as I can get in there. LOL

Yea that screwed me up, too. Figured it was something to do with the Top (which, in a weird way, it does).

I found that I could work it free by pulling, twisting and praying*. And I didn't break anything in the process!

* that is not a typo.

Were you able to determine what the tether is for? Near as I could tell all it did was secure the console to the drivetrain tunnel. Not sure why though.

If it was in the back of the center console, it is the yellow pneumatic locking line for the center console compartment door. If it was in the front, I have no idea as I've never seen or felt anything like a tether up there.

Yea, Rudy is right - I didn't know WHAT it was at first, thought it was something to do with the top.

Then, I pulled it off and turned the console over and saw that it was connected to the lock on the compartment door. But it STILL didn't occur to me that the car had pneumatic locks - so I thought maybe the deployment of the air bags shot air into the lock to keep your CD's from hitting you in the head in an accident.

But when I asked on the forum, it was pointed out to me that the car has all pneumatic locks.

I never would have guessed that this car, or ANY car, had pneumatic locks.

I know it's been over a year since you started this string, but I've just ordered mine on your website. I never did see any in these 8 pages of nonsense how you modified the mirror button to have a neutral position.
Good work. Thanks

Thanks for your order and I appreciate the business. Yeah, about the mirror switch mod. I didn't post details about it since it is just SO easy to screw it up and I didn't want to be the guy that people thought of when they needed to change their mirror positions and couldn't because of a fumbled up switch.

Take care

I just got into an issue regarding the convertible top switch what suddenly disappeared inside the middle console while pushing the switch to close my top. I am glad I made it to close the top, however the switch seems still to work but not accessible anymore. Sucks! What happened ??? and how to fix by myself, how to get into the middle console without tearing all up (my dealer sucks!, he already messed up my key ignition...all scratched nobody cares and no one is a pro.... I live in Miami,FL)
I am also interested in the Quick touch and wondering if still available after 2 years of this forum and if everybody is happy about it. I did not understand what happens to the mirror switch after installing the quick touch option???.... if I can fix my issue by myself I might just join the Quick touch also.....and avoid any further repeating damage to my switch. Or should I get a new switch also ? Help is needed asap, thx

Spring is fast approaching and I'm doing another run of Quick Touch Top controllers for those that want to be able to put their convertible top up and down with a simple press of the switch and not have to hold it down for the entire operation.

I'm offering two ways to purchase these as people have asked if they can meet up and have them installed. They are still available for self-install but I'm also providing local installation in the Chicago, IL area and at the Crossfire meets I will be attending. So far the only one that is set in stone is the fall Dragon but I will update this if I plan on attending others here in the future as well.

Please use the links below to purchase as the old ones will no longer work.

Quick Touch Top for Chrysler Crossfire Convertible w/ Shipping

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via email at rudy@acceleratedindustries.com or on my phone at 952-681-1000.

Thank you and take care

We've had a bunch of new folks join the forum in recent months, and to any of you with a roadster who are wondering about this little gizmo - listen well to these words:

Just get the thing, it is simply fantastic!

Every time I lower the top on my car I quietly thank Rudy for developing this. Such a simple little addition to the car, but easily one of the best mods I've done.

Disclaimer: I've never met Rudy, I have no stake in this whatsoever. But when something works this well, this easily, I don't mind letting everyone know about it.
