need tires
I just changed off the Connie's to Yokahama ADVAN S4. They are an ALL SEASON tire and all said and done, with the 19's in the back and 18s in the front, ballanced, mounted was just under $970.00
I've been on them nearly 1200 miles nice, great ride, very little road noise, been in the rain without even "thinking" of breaking traction.
It's all in personal selection, you looking for smooth ride with good tire ware? You looking for a summer tire, winter tire or all season.
Tire rack has the Kumho Ecsta SPT's for a full set (both the 18'' front's and 19's back) for $654.00 before tax and any of the roadside protections...etc. That's an excellent tire !!
I went with the Yakahama's for the all season and the tire life.
NOW the bad news - If you are running the 18's in the front and 19's in the back...forget the tire warrenties. In order to keep within the warenties you have to ROTATE your tires to keep within the agreement. YOU CAN'T ROTATE 18 inch wheels and 19 inch wheels. You'll void the tire warrenties that's something you'll want to keep in mind as well.................

Happy Shopping !!!!

Just passed 19K on the original Conti all seasons and the fronts are shot. The outside edges have no tread left. Chalk that up to 3 fantastic GTG's @ The Dragon.
I'm about to pickup some General Exclaim UHP's or Kumho Ecsta SPT's from TireRack before the fall meet.

Before changing the tires, the car had a balance problem. At about 80mph you could feel a slight vibration in the car. I suspect that a weight had fallen off one (or more) of the wheels at one time or another. Get over 85 and it would smooth out a little. Now, the car drives like a dream!!!! All speeds seem like glass! We should be able to handle TMS now!
I went with the stock size up front and the 275/30/zr19 on the rear.
thank you all for your good advice on replacement tires. I went with the General UHPs and they seem like a good choice- Very quiet compared to the original Continentals and also a much better ride- I can't get over the difference in my steering too. Thanks again.
I have Toyo Proxes and like them. They have an aggressive tread pattern and they hold the road well in rain or dry. I will need new tires in a 6 months or so and will try the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. They have rated very well and are less expensive than Michelin's or Good Year.

They stick like 'glue on crack'. I put the 19" Hankooks on the back this past July and I have been very happy with them. I did a ton of comparing/ research and don't think you can do any better for the $. They were about $185 ea. installed. According to this tire co. (that does about $20 million in annaul tires sales), they were the best quality tire for the money. Did great on the highway on a rainy round trip from Branson to Indy.

I have the Generals on my dakota truck, They do very well in wet conditions, and wear well, but I cant comment on handling, because I don't speed around in that thing at all.
I went with the General Exclaim UHP's. $614 and some change shipped from TireRack.
Haven't installed them yet, they look nice though. Good aggressive looking "V" pattern. I'm thinking I may hold off until after the Dragon to install. The Xfire isn't being driven much right now... wife is out on maternity leave so the Conti's should hold up for a couple of Dragon slayings... just hope the weather plays nice.

Taking the many suggestions I got here on the forum, I just put a set of Generals on and I'm impressed with the smoother ride and they are much quieter than the original Continentals. Thanks again guys.

, I decided it was time to get the Crossfire some new shoes. It is a Roadster and had the original Conti's. The car has 33K miles and the fronts still had 5/32 and the rears were at 3/32. I hate to replace tires two at a time, so I priced tires and decided on the General Exclaim UHP. I checked Tire Rack but I bought them at Sears with Lifetime Balance for $766.81. Paid a little more, but the Lifetime Balance and the convenience of Sears Tire Stores made it worth the few extra dollars. They also did an alignment for $69.99 and corrected front and rear toe-in.

I am on my second set of Vredestein Sessanta tires. They last around 20K miles.
Since I put the first set on my car I haven't considered any other tire brand. They are excellent tires for the Crossfire in every regard.
