Default Snow drifting

Had to play in the snow. Didn't go too well but stopped fine. Just checkin' out driftin' without really beating on the car.

However, did you have the top down?

No, I had the wife. We hardly put the top down when the weather's nice, due to hair. Fun ride tho!

Just thought I'd share a recent winter tale about my Xfire and snow which may help someone else learn from one bad experience. We had 24 inches of snow and that was just cleaned up and we received about 4 inches of slush and I was going to move the coupe from one garage to the other down the hill to make way for a new roadster.

Oh! I forgot to mention I have stock orginial Contis on and I have a 20 foot drop off which is about 20 feet from the garage. I live on a mountain slope. In this space I normally turn my cars around with no trouble. Well since this was my first experience with the Xfire in snow/ice, I just did what I normally do in the summer. Long story short I hit the brakes and the car just keep going. I just hoped it would stop before the drop off. With 2 feet to spare it stopped. Don't think I'll do that again. Scared the ***** out of me. Lesson learned. Xfire in snow, cold weather and ice on the roads requires a great deal of care with this car.

Hawk, you got lucky!

I hit some black ice once in a 78 Vette, only 65-70 mph.......spinning-spinning-spinning (360s).......stopped about 2 feet from a BIG drop-off......the lady that was with me about died of fright....my pulse was pretty high as well.

Yes I was very lucky. I now know how some guys describe hydroplanning with those Contis and their lack of traction in cold weather. They are kinda like stopping on ice cubes.
