Default Question - How Many Quarts of Oil

I recently went to a chrysler dealer in northeast to have my oil changed for my 2007 roadster and I noticed that the bill shows only 7 quarts added (they charged $11.75 per quart). It cost me $139 for the oil change. I thought that the xcross took 8.5 quarts of oil -- should I be concerned? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

That is a rip off price for a quart. Consider doing it your self and gain the happyness of knowing it is done correctly. 7 is shy of what it is called for , did they drain it or suck out some leaving some old oil. Did you get a new filter????????????? never do a change with out it, period.

Pull the did stick and check the level on the passenger side of motor.

Yes they did change the oil filter and I will check the level by the drip stick. I guess I'll sign up for a mechanic's class real soon. It's just frustrating when you pay for service and it isn't done correctly. Thanks for the info.

My NA takes 8 quarts with a filter. I would recheck the oil level with the stick.

Reading the dipstick is an iffy deal. You can check the level electronically....it's in the manual.

I buy the the Mobil-1 0W-40 on sale usually for about < $5....& buy the Mann filter Kit for about $10 on line & have a garage that charges me $12 labor.......(I only have them put in 8 quarts...nobody can drain it completely)...ends up costing about $65 or less.

I let it go about 7000 miles & the FSS usually says 1000-2000 miles left.

I keep all receipts for the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty!

I've put 8.5 in my NA the past three changes with filter which I have done myself.

I hadn't heard of a lifetime guarantee on the powertrain...

Certain years have the lifetime. I think it's '07 and '08's or just the '08s. Pretty much the newer ones.

But 11.75/qt, that's insane. Hell, Royal Purple 0w40 is cheaper than that.

The 07 also has the Lifetime warranty if you are the original owner.

Fred has the LPW.....& Fred's the one that will probably need it!!!! 43,500 miles at the 2.5 year mark.....expect to have 85-90K on him when I go in for the 5 year inspection 12/5/2012.....

Only problems Fred's ever had so far :

#1 = alignment from factory....&
#2 = the day it was -5F & I got him up to about 110mph on I-70...Fan kept running fast till his brain reset itself.

He still eats tires like they were candy....but they wear evenly....it probably has something to do with my driving.
