Default Roadster prices ?

Is an 05 Roadster with 49K and auto trans worth $14K, KBB said a tad over 14K but not by much. The car is a decent distance away and I want to get all my facts and opinions together before I go there to look at it. It is the right color and trans and 1 owner so it may be worth looking into.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Joe

The sticker is 13,995. I will call them and ask what is bottom dollar, no trade in and see if they move any, it's 100 miles to go look at it and if I go I plan on buying unless the car has flaws in the paint or if some accessory doesn't work etc. It's the right color and trans that my wife is looking for but she has a figure in mind as a max that she is willing to spend. I will need to add a grand for sales tax of course. Thanks for the input, keep it coming. I have not seen any as cheap as you mention, in the Midwest and some Roadsters push $20K real hard so they are out of our range, they could be worth it with their low miles and like new but I don't need that, one with some miles so the bugs are gone is just fine. I don't like 40K on it but after all it is 5 years old so 8K per year is not bad, just pleasure driving.

if u ask them what there bottom price is they will lie to you. best thing to do is take a couple of friends or family and put the pressure on them. you might even have to walk away from it to get your point through. i bought my 04 limited in february with 39k miles and they where asking 14k for it and i hassled for about 3 hours with them and they told me the bottom line price was 13k or they would take a loss on it. well i walked away and got a phone call the next day and payed 11,900 before taxes for it with brand new tires all around the car. if i can do it i know you can do. but if you can't keep looking there will be plenty around at the right price

Too much IMHO. See if they will go to $12-13K. There should be plenty of XF's out there with better mileage for the same price.

So this car, just around the corner from me, is a bit overpriced?

'05, 52,175 miles and $15,000

They bought it used from a notorious dealer in Morrow, Georgia. I am sure they paid well beyond KBB and probably are basing their price on: 1) What they paid. 2) What they still owe.

The car in question is already sold so on with the search. You guys keep talking like there is an unlimited supply of very cheap cars out there but I sure can't find them. We have a few colors that we don't want and it must be a Roadster and auto trans but that's it. Now to make it tough, I am not willing to travel half way around the country unless it is a deal of a lifetime. We aren't in a rush, a dealer friend is also looking and he only finds coupes and sticks. We live in IL and I'd like to stay within 100 miles or so thus is my problem I guess.
Even so, I look online at various sources and I see them closer to $20K than I do $13K. I have never seen one under $14K, again a Roadster with auto trans, KBB didn't show a price difference between the two trans when I was messing with it

The phone just rang as I was typing, the place with the SRT6 with 29K miles called and said it needed back tires and they were selling as is for $19.5K . I said that is ridiculous and he said it will be gone today, they have 6 people on it. I said good luck and hung up. What a joke... sure it's a Roadster SRT6 but if it needs back tires.. let's see, wonder why.... It has 29K miles done 1/4 at a time.

joe,

I bought my Roadster in my sigline last July with 13,351 on it for $17,645.

Most here said I paid too much, but it had factory warranty, one owner, was absolutely perfectly clean, has gone 12,000 miles since then with only a trunk lock issue (which I brilliantly fixed myself) - and I have had NOTHING but FUN with it. I'd do it over all over again.

I kinda wish it was a stick, but then, with the way people drive sticks, any clutch repair would have set me back BIG TIME.

These cars are a steal, IMO. They are selling for under 1/2 the original sticker and most have under 30,000 miles on them! If you find the car you want, and it isn't terribly overpriced (like the one I posted above), I'd buy it.

EDIT I shoud add that I could tell that the guy who owned this car treated it like his child. THAT was worth a lot to me - this car was not driven hard!

To me that is a very reasonable deal and I would do it. A car with low easy miles is worth the extra $. Well done.

It's summer time and sports cars, especially 'verts, will sell at a higher price. They'll be cheapest in January when the dealer has to brush 6" of snow off of them to show you and they've been on the lot for >90 days. I just looked at a pair of 2007 roadsters (one with ~30k miles) and both with sticks for $16-17k. So $14-15 for a medium mileage vehicle in the color you want is reasonable. Keep in mind the autostick optioned for an extra $1000 when new. If one is out there for $12k expect higher mileage, shredded rims, and lots of blems. It also may not be a limited. My advice is pick based on colors and options, then check it out thoroughly. Getting what you want justifies a small price premium. I am in SW Michigan.

I agree with you 100%. I purchased a 07 with 30,000 on it for about 17,900. It is in mint condition...doesn't look like it's hardly been driven. I don't think the top was down more than five times. Still has the original front tires which still have some mileage left and brand new backs. It looks brand new. No rattles, rides and drives like a dream.

Maybe I could've gotten one for less but I've been driving it for five weeks and enjoying it and there ain't a better, sharper looking 18,000 dollar car on the road in my estimation.

Hmmm... back tires approx $3-400
I guess just keep looking you'll find a better deal on an SRT6 roadster, after all they did make 928 of them ................:O)

Joe, I just paid $15,500 for a mint yellow roadster with 24,000 miles and it came with the extended warranty, good until August 2013 with a $100 deduct each visit that covers everything. It was owned by an older gentleman in North Carolina. And it did need new rear tires because that's as long as those performance tires last that come OEM on the car. I may have paid a little too much, but I love the yellow and that extended warranty cost the original owner $2400 and he even paid extra for the paint treatment!

I just purchased a 2007 limited manual 6-speed one owner lease trade in for $16,500. I'm up on Chicago. Only has 25k miles, no accidents, and is flawless. Dealers are willing to give the farm away lately. Still has balance of factory warranty granted for only 2 more months but works for me.

you should have snatched an SRT6 roadster for 19.5...the back tires wear out first on the srt6, not because of 1/4 miles time either...all XF's wear out rears before the fronts...roadsters hold their value better than coupes, just the way it is...it's summer, it's a seller's market...buy one in the winter, most dealers don't want 'verts on the lot, especially in snow country. Good luck, but don't be surprised at the prices...and not all people run the hell out of them....but then again...why buy a sports car...

My fronts were nearly bald while my rears had an easy 10K left on them when I put new tires on last fall. Tire wear depends on driving habit. We don't do burnouts or take off hard. We do hit the Dragon at least twice a year. Curvy road chewed my original Conti fronts to pieces.

As for buying a New/Used car... tell them "your" bottom dollar...out the door price. They're working for you... not the other way around. They need your business... there's a lot of other car lots out there to choose from if they don't feel the same way. I did back in April when I bought a 09' Chevy HHR (daily driver... great on gas) and ended up my total price right at $3,000 less than KBB... which KBB is total BS anyway and any dealer that goes by KBB for their sales and trades is a crook! A lot of your larger dealers have switched to "Fair Market Pricing" which they go online and look at what other dealers in your area are selling cars like you're looking at and base their value on that.

Hell, I have an 05 roadster with nav and I don't think it's worth 14 thou either. I'll probably never be out from under until I pay off the loan on it.
