Default Started A Winter Project: Roadster Model

Ihad this Testors Crossfire model kit for about a year, but because I have a roadster, I kinda lost interest in it. Well ... I've started to convert the coupe model into a roadster. Just sharing some pics of the work in progress. I really haven't worked on a model in years, I just said, "what the hell" I'll try it. Happy so far ....
I do have an SRT roadster, but I'm not going to attempt the wing or the front bumper.
Filling in the back area around the toneau, and then painting is next.

You do realize that you just destroyed most of the models "body rigidity" don't you?

I'm sure he'll reinforce the windshield surround and undercarriage.

That model started out as an SLK and was built as a convertible from the start. LOL

Red???? Well lets see, I have a BLACK SRT roadster ...... Hmmmm!!! LOL

Be that as it may, I have hit a road block in 'model" making. My impatience got the best of me and I have decided to put it away for a while, before I totally screw it up. I'm just happy that I got the nerve to cut down the coupe and rough shape the rear end of the car. The rear needs to be filled and sanded down smooth before finishing. I plan to buy a box of generic macaroni and cheese, and find a couple of macaroni noodles to use for the faux roll bars. That is if I get that far. Maybe some cold wintry snowy nite, I'll get back to it. We'll see .......

BTW .... the pics with the "whale" tail on the rear. This was just placed on the car to see what it would look like. Made it quickly from a black plastic dinner knife. May not be on the car when and if, it gets finished.

I posted this thread in hopes that it might inspire some other people to try the roadster conversion on a model. I'm sure that if 10 of us were to do it, 9 of them would be better then mine.

Well I finished it ..... it's not perfect, but the best I could do with my "old" eyes and impatience. LOL Hope the pics appear..... Obviously they're a little out of focus but what the heck. What do you think? I'm sure there are expert "modelers" here that have done this before, let's see em!

Looks good! I too got a coupe model with intent of cutting it into a roadster. Then it came to me to leave it a coupe, finish painting it classic yellow. I will finally own both the roadster & coupe in yellow Both the exterior and interior need painting- lots of detail.
