Default windows when doors opened Roadster

I was wondering if the windows are supposed to go down alittle when the doors are opened (i saw this happen on an 05 pt cruiser conv and also a
bug conv) If it was on an 05 pt then I would think it should have been on an
05 roadster limited.

Nope doesn't happen, there are absolutely no similarities between a PT cruiser and a Crossfire, other than the badges. If it happens on an 04 SLK32, then I would expect it on a Crossfire

The windows do go down when you unlatch the top though.

dont have a xf roadster but used to have a pt cruiser vert and the windows drop as you open the doors because the window tucks up under the roof..was a right pain in the a*** when it was frosty and the window was frozen to the roof..and wouldnt drop so couldnt open the door.

I noticed the window drops about an inch on the new Challenger coupes as well. Gives you a tighter seal after the door closes and the window actually tucks up under a flap.

Our 06 VW New Beetle ragtop has this feature, most likely for the same reason as other ragtops mentioned above. I had to replace the DS power window motor shortly after we bought it in 2010. And most VW New Beetle ragtops have this occur after years of ownership. Repeated up & down movement must take its toll on the motor.

It would be a nice feature but unfortunately our car doesn't do this. That feature is to make sure you get a good seal between the glass and the top. It also protects the window as well. BMW convertibles also do that.

I remember watching a Chrysler Dealer Video of the Roadster doing this when you open the door. My SLK's windows do it.

I just bought an 05 Crossfire convertible and the windows don't drop when opening and closing the doors. The problem I see is the window has a large gap/opening at the back of the window that would let water in. If I have the wife roll down the window and back up with the door closed, NO GAP.

If running the window down and back up temporarily fixes it, I'd say that it sounds like a worn/sloppy "Window Regulator".
