Data Base
I have noticed a big drop in listings for Crossfires. In my locale, on Cars.com, there used to be 30 - 40 listings within 50 miles. there are now about 10. I don't know if we a loosing Crossfires or less people are selling them At this point the attrition rate should be about 10% or more. I had a thought! LOL
If one of our techy members could create a data base to be placed on or linked to this and the CICCI web site that would allow Crossfire owners to enter their or another vehicle's information including VIN. No., location, Color, SRT, NA or Base, Roadster or Coupe, Interior color (Slate, Vanilla or Cedar), Stick or automatic, etc. It would be best if the info could be entered online and not by one individual. There could even be a column for running and destroyed to track those that are gone. You would not want "destroyed" Crossfires counted in the total amount so if anyone entered one as destroyed or changed the checked box because of an accident or incident it would come off of the total available.
What this would do is have a sort capability to determine how many were still on the road (existed) in each state, category. For instance you could sort by how many yellow roadsters with vanilla interiors still existed and how many were stick shifts. How many were in Maine and so on. It is too bad this wasn't done years ago. I'm sorry to say I am no Techy however I know this is possible. The goal would be to locate info on as many as possible.Forum members could even research those listed on Cars.com and Craig's list etc. to enhance the data base.
Any Thoughts?? Any Volunteers??

If Google Docs or Windows Live ever give us a us a true database utility - then we could let her rip.
These are fun summer cars. Expect quite a few to be dumped in the fall. Also, after being through several owners, they are starting to settle in as "keepers" with those that can now appreciate AND afford them.
There are other web based database services available. ($$$)
It maybe worth while for the club to invest...
So we can have an easy to use tools to record and look-up VIN data.
Should have more information in a bit....

It would be only as good as the info put in and how many would update their record if they scrapped the car .... not many. Many cannot follow up with results when they have asked for help.
There are more cars out there than members and without a representative number the idea falls apart.
Garbage in garbage out.
Many cars have been identified in the owners list here, how many have updated it when they sold or scrapped their car?

The owners list does not give sort capability. It was just a fun idea for true Crossfire Fanatics. I know it would not be 100% accurate but I do believe more owners might get involved than you think. Of course I have been an owner from almost the beginning.

We should create a team to enter data mined from ebay and other sites as an on going effort. Some have already been collecting this information as a personal hobby. Those are the people who can contribute greatly and cooperate on this project to create a central, historical data base and Registry.
Oh...my, God. i just did a search in cars.com and retrieved 4 cars in 50 miles with the cheapest being a 2005, 52,xxx miles for $14,995, next is an 04, 98,xxx miles for $14,999. either crossfires have really increased in value or they are very over priced in my area. ($19,545 for an 05 SRT 61,xxx miles)
From what I have seen lately, they have bottomed out and are starting to increase. Believe it or not, because of price, more people are discovering what a bargain they are.
