Default Bad Factory Amp

I am in need of a replacement factory amp. I have been told that its a mess to replace with an aftermarket amp? The factory amp is (model: A1938200489 36670C). I took apart the amp and I don't see anything burnt or blown capacitors, but it isn't working. Anyone know anywhere to pick one up or any other alternative ideas?

May seem silly to ask but are you sure there is power to the amp? I have never seen one of these go in the perusing of the forums. BTW, this is free advice!

The amp is bad for sure. I tested the radio and speakers. I checked with several sources and they recommend putting in all new 4ohm speakers and everyones quote comes to around $750 with installation included. I am just wondering if anyone has just wired to a aftermarket stereo? I also have an amp that will fit in the factory location that is two channel and I thought i could combine the dual voice coil 6.5's and power them with it. I would power factory tweeters and mids with the new radio.

I am not an audio nut in anyway just been researching the forum for the best answer to my problem. If you had a bad amp how would you solve it?

Thanks,

-Andy

When my amp takes a crap im going to replace it with something better. I will probably do something similar to what you have planned, deck powering vocals and small amp pushing the stock subs, then replace the subs later on with something better.
