I can't say I've ever heard of this - I HAVE heard of balancing on the machine and balancing the wheel/tire ON THE CAR (which I have not seen anyone do since Mickulic's garage in Jonesville, MI closed in 1995.)

Don always balanced on the car - which makes sense on a car you can't rotate the tires on - but I didn't see the point on a truck I was rotating tires on every 12,000 miles.
Probably that balance machine that brings one or two rollers in contact with the tire.
I believe the technician can program in how much force to simulate the weight on that particular wheel .......

road force balancer puts preasire onvthe rim/tire which simulates the preasure of the vehicles weight under high speed conditions and will show any defects in the tire and enable them ti be corrected. It can show if a tire is ought of round down to one thousands of a inch. not all shops have them since the sale for around. 13k.

That's why I said..... "Now for balance... the Crossfire may love them."

I didn't like their sidewall bulging problems for the oem tire put on the Jag. I don't see that model name in their tire line-up anymore.

Dang - lots of info here about which I have NO knowlege. HOWEVER - I am going to get a second opinoin on the needed tire situation/availability - just for my personal satisfaction. Turns out that one of 'my' tire people has a sister who recently sold her XF - red- in Tampa (don't know what year) - and her tire mileage was much better than mine. It is very interesting to find out what forum participants like and why. Thank you - everyone! I did see where there are some Contis available.....

Thanks - Alicia

I have heard of some people getting 40,000 miles out of a set of tires. But they are very conservative drivers and they must buy the RIGHT tire.
In this case, that tire won't be a performance tire. If you are a "Sunday Driver" then you'd be fine.

So many of the rest of us drive the car (even to work) taking every turn hard and leaving rubber everywhere. SOME of us get only 10,000 miles from their tires!

I am sure depending on where you live and driving habbits some tires could be stretched beyond 25k, for me the fronts would fall under that but I carry a bit of extra weight in the trunk so the rear tires generally are close to the wear bars by 25k

I need to get new tires for my 07 XF roadster. When I bought it used it had Continentals on it. I don't like these tires. Whenever it rains these tires are wanting to slide everywhere. Plus if there is a groove in the road they want to follow the groove. I was thinking of getting the Yokohama Advan S.4. tires. Has anyone had any experience with these tires on a XF? Thanks!

Keep reading threads on tires, JR. Someone MIGHT chime in, but go thru a lot of the threads in the special forum called "WHEELS BRAKES TIRES SUSPENSION".

Tires (as you can read in this thread) are a specialty item and the answer often depends on how you drive.
But I DO know I've seen comments made on those tires - just can't remember if they were positive or negative.

I have the yokohamas ... Have had them for 25k.... I love hem, a great handling tire and tread wear is superb! I don't really drive it much in the rain but the few times I did it was good. They look good too.
