resetting oil change indicator
resetting oil change indicator
Had my oil changed for the second time today. 1st time I followed resetting directions in owners manual and it worked. This time I keep getting 3.2 showing in tripmeter and 20 10 showing in odometer instead of resetting to 7000...any suggestions on what is going wrong would be greatly appreciated... thanks, WillyA
Re: resetting oil change indicator
When in doubt... power out. Became my moto dealing with issues on computers. Finding it's not bad advice on the Crossfire. Another user was having issues getting the reset to take.. suggested disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.. Don't know if it actually was the reason, but he reported back reset worked afterwards...
Re: resetting oil change indicator
I had trouble getting mine to reset after my first oil change. About a week later the oil light came on for a few minutes. After another week or two it stayed on. Changed out sensor last weekend, no more light, and reset worked. Not saying that's your problem, but something to keep in mind.
Re: resetting oil change indicator
When you follow the reset procedure, make sure you turn the key all the way to the on (run) position, not just the accessory power position. It's easy to just turn it to that first stopping point, but that will not reset the FSS.
1. Turn key to the ON/RUN position.
2. Within one second press the ****/button twice.
3. The present status for days or distance is displayed.
Within 10 seconds turn the key to OFF/
LOCK.
4. Press and hold the ****/button, while turning
the key to ON/RUN again. The present status for
days or distance is displayed once more. Continue
to hold the ****/button.
After approximately 10 seconds, a signal sounds and
the display shows 7,000 miles (Canada: 11,000 km) for
approximately 10 seconds.
5. Release the ****/button.
